Jan Vertonghen

First time hit from 30 yards with his wrong foot too!

fudging travesty, that. One of the rare cases where I could see the linesman getting it wrong in real time - most of the time, it's actually pretty damn hard to immediately spot what the linesman's seen until the replays come on (which is why it's such a tough job, I guess), but there was never any doubt whatsoever about that one.

The lino should be thanking his lucky stars to this day that there was nothing riding on Jan's disallowed goal. If it had been the game-winner or an equalizer or something...that lino would be running the line in the Cornwell Combination about now.

Yes, was a typical interview however he did say that they have been working hard on the way they press on a bigger pitch, and it seemed to work the way they played against Juve.

Is that bigger pitch they played 80% of their away games on last season!!!

It's only a handful of sides that have a small pitch in the league and we lost at two of them

Sorry but we will be playing on the premie league standard sized pitch. All clubs have too now except where the ground isn't big enough
Wembley is 105 by 69 the premier league standard is 105 by 68 so this year we will be playing on a slightly bigger pitch than when we play away from home

ignore the headline but:

"That’s short of FA regulations, which standardized pitches at 105x68, but Spurs were one of several clubs that had an exemption from the guidelines due to the fact that their old stadium didn’t allow for a pitch of that size. Wembley’s pitch is slightly wider than standard, with dimensions of 105x69."

I'm not sure where the The Times journalists (whose article the CartilageFreeCaptain blog post is based upon) got their info from but according to the official Premier League Handbook 2017/18 the pitch dimensions of Wembley will be 105m x 68m...
