To be fair, money is probably the appropriate way to measure quality in this day & age.
Thats why every Premier League player now is better than any other player that has ever laced on boots prior - they earn more. :-"
 
Sorry but the quality of football is better and modern day players are better than old players. To me that is just a well-known fact.

Modern footballers look after themselves better, train with better pitches, have better fitness instructors, and just generally have better conditions than old players. Hence in my opinion the likes of Messi and Ronaldo are better than Maradona. They play against tougher opponents at a much higher pace for one thing.

And the older players would now have those same facilities. Could Ronaldo have played on a ploughed field like some of the 'old' players had to? We will never know.

It's more to do with the excitement of the games rather than actual quality. I wouldn't put any English team in the top 4 teams in Europe.
