Is anyone actually bothered

If you don't he will probably become a Chelsea or Arsenal fan of his own accord. You wouldn't wish that on anyone....

Yeah, you need to stick that in them when they’re young - regardless. My son,10, enjoys playing football, but think watching it is boring as hell (I can sympathize) - but he’s got Spurs so ingrained in him he recently made the «something smells bad» gesture while pointing at someone in a scum shirt. I’m a proud dad.

brownsAt the end of the day, when we are good again (and that time will come sooner rather than later IMO) we won't be having these conversations.

Until then I'm comfortable riding the lows, otherwise the highs wouldn't be real highs....
It’s not really about being better at Spurs. Just feel disillusioned with football in general but more.
so with spurs. You don’t support spurs for the good times as they are not a guarantee. But for me I felt apart of community, friends, some banter and genuinely hope. I just think I’m getting more and more disconnected … is it an age thing?

My son is 4 and I'm debating whether to saddle him with the burden of being a Spurs fan

Know what you mean. I have a Grandson who has just got into football at 6. Obviously Me and Mrs PW are Spurs fans while my future son-in-law is an Everton fan, and I said to him its a shame really because theres nothing down for the liitle un, Spurs or Everton?? What a choice?

And if he chooses to watch Rugby, Warrington....the Tottenham of the Rugby League!

I'm totally disconnected from football. It's become very stale.
Still have an interest in Spurs, but that's about it.
I'll watch games when they are on.

I genuinely don't even know why I log in to this place - habit I guess. Or masochism.

There is a middle ground. You don't have to drag him to the game and subject him to the shouting and screaming and awful vibes. But you should buy him the gear and kits and make him know he is Spurs.
Otherwise he will be a City or Arse fan and you will have that wedge between you for the rest of your life. Every smarmy comment and sly smirk will annoy the hell out of you.

Throughout my lifetime supporting Spurs (almost 40 years), we’ve always had decent to world class forwards, even when the rest of the team was crap. I used to be a striker so I always focus on them, I’m sorry but this collection we have now (Solanke aside) is the biggest pile of dog brick I’ve seen my life that have played for us. They don’t have any flair nor do they excel at anything.

Frank seems like a good guy but I’m honestly sick of the sight of him on the sideline chewing and doesn’t seem to have a clue how to get us to score goals other than from set pieces. I wonder how he did such a good job at Brentford.

I might feel more connected when the owners eventually sell up. I’ve seen Levy’s name mentioned but it was one of the only good decisions we’ve made in recent times in getting rid of him.

My wife is having our first child in April. I’m also debating whether to let him support another team. Just not Arsenal or Chelsea.

Congratulations! And, once he arrives, he’ll quickly be Spurs, I hope.

I had our eldest daughter in a Spurs babygro in the incubator in the hospital a few hours after she was born. She’s 26 now and some of our happiest times together have been centred around watching Spurs. Off to the NLD with her next week.

Don’t miss out on those experiences!

I totally get from a shared experience/camaraderie pov. I also don’t want him to be miserable 😂

THIS is the bit we cannot let the incompetence and ineptitude of those running our club to ruin.
Great to read this...love it...

When we are PL Champions for the fifth time under the new Poch regime, and when opposing fans are singing "Where were you when you were brick" to us. We can smugly revel in the memories of where we are at this point in time. :D
I’d rather smugly revel in mammaries to be honest

Totally off topic but your post reminded me of being at an aunt’s funeral. The priest was I think Filipino, and had quite a strong accent. He mentioned a few times how we should all “enjoy the mammaries of Margaret “. I have never seen so many shaking shoulders in a church as everyone tried not to laugh out loud.

Oh well that has cheered me up a bit this morning!
