He’s loyal to those that have played well for him in the past. But unfortunately there’s no room for sentiment at this level.

It's difficult to know your best XI when you don't have 11 good players.

Other than Kane and Walker I can't think of any other player that is a "can't drop" player.

That's fine if the player is only going through a patch of poor form, Maguire has been brick for most of his career and is still persisted with. Sounds like a manager that hasn't the balls to make the big decisions.
 
Although joking aside, can't understand why Grealish doesn't start. He's exactly what we need to link midfield and attack, talented and gives 100%.

Personally would use Sterling as a sub and find a way to include Grealish, Kane and Foden.

I'd love us to sign Bellingham. Think he'd be perfect for our midfield.
Probably not in our budget now but what a player he is.
 
Kane needs pacey players running beyond him now. We've got some talented players but don't think there's enough goals in the current set up.
Would quite like to see two up top so Kane can play slightly deeper with a scorer beyond him.

Would suit Kane
He would need a striker with him not sterling
Said it when sterling was on his hot streak he still is brick with the ball when he isn’t hitting it first time
Kane with Toney or Abrahams could be interesting
But Southgate would play a CM of rice, Henderson and Philips to stodge it up
 
Cack again.
Saka is a wide right player who received 'England player of the year' so Southgate plays him at left wing back, boy was totally lost.
Sterling was abysmal.
Some good players in there not being played to their strengths, negative coaching and no apparent way of playing. Stay at home in November.

Yeah, about ol' Sleep Walker. What a great seat he had to watch that Italian goal fly in.

Embarrassingly limp performance by England. Yet again. What a way to go into the World Cup.

It must be inconvenient having an England team and manager being against racism if you are racist. Care to provide any actual quotes from Southgate on issues that you have a problem with or is it just the overall general anti discrimination message that irks you?

Sure we have looked awful for a five six game spell but it's like this manager hasn't got us to the semis then finals of the last two tournaments - Italy haven't even qualified for the world cup.

Personality and wokeness aside Southgate has done reasonably well but 80% of his games have been against poor opposition, as soon as we get a competent team we usually get beat. We fluked our way to those semi and final, got extremely lucky in the draws and even with home advantage for nearly all the euro games we were still average and should have been knocked out by Denmark. A lot of the performances have been very poor. Cautious too often and not using our main threat which is our attacking flair. Nice bloke though.
