Igor the Interim

The question is are there enough games to give an interim the chance to save us? I think the answer is yes. The next question is how does that manager get us over the line? Given the time, I would drill us defensively, have us compact and aim to hit teams on the break. A bit like we were in EL winning run. We look woeful at either end of the pitch. Igor had 2 clear weeks to at least drill the team but instead both games could have been lost by 4 goals. I mean today the defending was school playground bad. Iwobi had no one challenging him before scoring. Fulham are inconsistent, it was not impossible to get a draw there today and another point away from the teams around us.
Any manager needs to change such a negative vibe
We have players who clearly not playing anywhere near their best and some will have felt the pain of the last 4 months more than others
What I cannot work out is how, again, we have no one in midfield close to anyone from the opposition constantly

That’s what you get with Bissouma in midfield, grey is the better option but again we are stuck in defence. Souza needs bits of games to get up to speed, he was off season in Brazil and players take weeks to get match fit again, so he isn’t that much of an option yet either. Hopefully Danso coming back will help and Richy at least looks up for it.

Bissouma marks space well
On a good day I’m sure he will add something but today he was nowhere
Him and Palhina missed everything and gave so much space away it was scary

I think an unfit Zouza is better than making another part of the pitch weaker by not having Gray in the middle

Even we can't concede a goal to space.
Although give it time...

Bissouma has been a huge dissapointment for me. We cant wait for him to have a rare " good day" any longer.
I was pleased when we got him but overall he has been really poor. His off field issues compounded this.
I guess hes getting picked because the rest are as bad or even worse in Igors mind.

The combinations change so frequently - in a way I don’t blame the players completely.

If I were Tudor I’d pick my main 4 now for the 3 spaces and stick with it. For me it would be Palhina, Gallagher, Gray & Simons. Biss and Sarr have been so hit and miss, we need to limit their mins.

Palhina is a genuine enforcer and has quality and will give 100%.
Gray will use the ball well from deep and will give 100%
Gallagher is captain material and can lead from the centre. He’s obviously limited but can pop up with a goal and will give 100%. (Should never be used wide right again).
Simons you just need to hope finds a spark from a central position with men in front - in Franks final games he was always demanding the ball all the time.

Stick to those 4 and in a couple of games they will find some rhythm.

Danso back. Porro back. Souza available. Romero nearly back. Spence There’s no need for any of those 4 to play WB or CB again.

Then hope the forwards can find some goals.

I don’t really get how anyone can pick the bloke apart with what he has available, most of what he has don’t really care and think they’re above this and the only half decent quality is in a recovery room somewhere.

Whatever happens here, this isn’t really on him for me.

The 3 at the back thing is odd when we don't have 3 CBs, lets see if he changes it now he's had 2 games to see it's not working. Or I guess he could play Danso there and put Palinha back in midfield.

He played 4 at the back yesterday, Palhinha was in CM. Issue was Gray at LB having no left foot, Xavi out on the LW when he can't play there and Solanke more as a 10 then a forward. We improved when Gray was moved into midfield, Sousa a proper LB at LB, and Tel at LW.

It looked a lot like a 3 for the majority of the game but if it was a 4 the Gray at LB thing needs to die. He's awful there and can not provide anything that a LB actually needs to do.

It was definitely a 4. I agree about Gray at LB. We’d be better playing VDV there and moving Gray central.
