Robbie Keane raves about Tottenham Hotspur's Erik Lamela
“He was fantastic today,” Keane said. “In the last few weeks he’s been one of the outstanding players. I think it continued from last season. He’s been brilliant.
“He’s very clever and he always gets in those little pockets. The goal was a prime example of that. You’re not really sure where he plays. He’s certainly stepped up to the plate. You probably won’t see Dele Alli starting for four or five games.”

The Erik Lamela Fan Club is getting bigger all the time.:D
And He fully deserves all the praise he is getting now. He has worked so hard to to get back his form after his 13 month injury problems. Amazingly, he has been involved in 11 goals in his last 12 matches (7 goals, 4 assists). Frankly, he should be made club captain as he never goes missing in any matches. Let's hope he will continue his red hot form for the rest of the season.

I love Lamela but perhaps you're entering restraining order territory. Got the name of a good lawyer if you need one...

I wonder if a ban can be coming his way for this one. I love the guy and his passion, but this was totally unnecessary!
I worried about that as soon as I saw it. If he didn't have "previous" it might not be such a problem, but I can see a ban coming. If it was Alli, the press would be all over it.

I do think it looks worse that it was though. Certainly, the other player hardly batted an eyelid so perhaps another angle would show slight contact rather than a full-blown elbow.

It was petulant but I’d be disappointed if it resulted in a ban. If we can review everything in the game afterwards let’s see bans for feigning injury, tackles that deserved reds but got yellows or less and diving. I’ve seen worse in a queue for the tube.

Looked worse from the first angle, from the second looked like nothing to worry about.

As you mention diving - what was all that time wasting with the player going down like he was shot, wasting 5 minutes, then carrying on as if nothing had happened? If we are going to look into poor sportsmanship...

That’s the one I meant, but under the category of ‘feigning injury’. We were on the ball at the time too. Not sure how you can punish it, perhaps make the player spend the same amount of time off the pitch unless subbed off (what do you do about identifying genuine cases?) but it would be great if the refs watch was hooked up to the scoreboard so he can show he’s stopped the clock at least.

Van Pube head moaned about the pitch at the end, bet he loved it for around 75% of the match though!

The ref should not have stopped it in the first place; the guy can hobble off or wait. No need to stop it. And definitely no need to wave him on after treatment, make the cheat wait

Banned for that? WTF!? How soft is football these days.. Barely even a tap.

Came on, changed the game. Certain to start at the weekend.

That elbow isn't worth charging him for, they'd set a precedent which means the game becomes non contact.

I think we are now seeing the best of the player we thought we had bought from Roma. I’ve always liked him and felt like he had something special about him.

I love his nastiness - he’s got that South American bite.

There is bo denying it, he is a nasty brick on the pitch, but he is OUR nasty little brick - and the boy can play a bit too!

Besides he became a club legend for me when he tinkled off Wheelchair and stood on Fibreglass’ hand last season.
