I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

You can only keep a lid on things for so long. A scandal is inevitable at some point. I think that you come out of it better if you had appropriate measures in place beforehand.

Indeed; but hypothetically that may be EXACTLY what West Brom did re keeping a lid on Berahino's drug issue...

Anyone think we'll see him again this season?

Next question, think we'll see him in a Spurs shirt again in a premier league game? No one outside the club seems to know what's going on. Even journos are scratching their head. They make things up granted but normally at least one writer who has strong connections within the club has some kind of inkling or clue.

Not this season.

Yes I think he'll be like a new signing next season. I hope so anyway, missed watching him play.

Not this season, unfortunately. Whatever's up with him, he seems to have had no meaningful football activity in months, so I can't see him joining the cavalry down the home stretch.

Ever again? Who knows. Obviously can't speculate without knowing what's wrong. Even taking things at face value, if his hip injury is bad enough to have kept him from simple training for five months, that ain't promising. Nor is the absence of evidence of him socializing with the squad, attending home matches at WHL, etc. If it is something else also/instead - mental, behavioral, social, whatever - then I'm not confident that would be resolved over the summer if it hasn't been during the season.

I hope he'll be back, and if not it'll be a shame, as he had a strong Copa America last summer with Argentina and had become a key squad member.

Tottenham Hotspur fans want proof Lamela is still alive

by Danielle Joynson

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have bizarrely asked the club to prove that Erik Lamela is still alive.

The Argentine has not played since he suffered a hip injury almost five months ago.

The 25-year-old has had various treatments, and at one point was sent back to his former club Roma to undergo assessment, but it is still unclear when he will return to action.

Lamela was also given some time off in December to spend time in his homeland Argentina after his brother was injured in a serious accident.

Seven weeks after learning in Rome that he did not need an operation, Lamela is still no closer to making a first-team comeback.

There does not seem to be a timescale for the winger’s recovery as he continues to feel pain in his hip.

On Friday, Spurs posted an update on Twitter about the latest injury news within the squad, which included confirmation that Lamela is unavailable for Sunday’s home match against Southampton.

Bizarrely, some fans reacted to the news by speculating whether the player is even still alive.

It is getting annoying. Maybe Lamela was kidnapped by Aliens and the club is too clueless to do anything !

Just more proof ( if any is needed) that Cameron was right when he said " too many tweets make a taco".

The only thing that article tells us is that there is no longer an editorial filter on any site publishing it.

Once upon a time articles had content and structure. They were built from facts and padded with journalistic insight and analysis.

Now it appears that the only prerequisites to being published are too much time and not enough knowledge.

Lamela and a failed drug test seems unlikely to me, based purely on his appearance/social media profile and lifestyle.

He looks as straight as they come.

Once upon a time people paid for news, and journalists could hunt for stories and scoops with the security of knowing that they had a secure income and a steady job. Now, journalism is a dead-end for 99.99% of people, and clickbait is a bloody way of life.

This article is just sad, but not just for its truly crappy editing.

I have feeling that will change in the near future and we will start paying for the news again. Time is vaulable, and people will realise that they spending hours reading "news" without knowing that is correct or fake news.

Well we've not been short of suitors so I don't see it being a big deal.
Poch doesn't keep players around who give him anything other than 100%.

True but doing a quick/random deal in mid-season is totally different to selling a player in the summer; you cannot use the fact that a player wasn't sold in January as a basis to make the opinion
