Harry Kane MBE

Can always say to him you have 3 years left
You can stay for the 3 years and leave on a free
You have cost us nothing and would leave as a legend

This.

In 3 years I am sure he will have caught Greaves for the Spurs All-Time record. He will be closing in on Rooney for the England record and he can then have his move to City or United to hunt down Shearer's record for the set

Do you see Levy doing that? He'd be taking a £150m asset and running it down to zero over 3 years, so writing off £50m asset value p.a.

He's a big lumbering heavyweight boxer like Lennox Lewis, Lukaku or Weghorst, he isn't a scampering little scamp like Sterling.

Did you know Barry Mcguigan was <9 stone? I coulda knocked him down with a fart.

You wouldnt have laid a glove on him, two to your ribs and you're crawling round on all fours.

If we sell Harry, we'll need to replace him because DL's business model requires, at minimum, qualification for the CL. Harry is still under contract and is more likely than any other striker to get us back in. Bird in the hand and all that.

But, were we to sell, we'd need to invest much of the cash in a top class replacement.

So,

Question 1: who is this striker that's good enough to fill H's boots?

Question 2: in what alternate universe would such a player join a club due to compete in the Euro Conference next season?

Has anyone ever seen a direct quote from Harry Kane saying he was looking to leave this summer?

No? As I thought................

Whatever happens with Kane, and I think he’ll go although I hope it’s not ugly, I think he’s a tremendous lad. Always struck me as just a great, great pro besides being immensely talented. I love the guy and always will as long as he doesn’t act the c**t when he goes.

At 41, you can’t have idols really but the 15 year old in me idolises Kane.
I think he’s going to have to act like a c**t or he won’t force his transfer through. I doubt City will the bid £150m which seems to be Levy’s magic number, so he’ll have to reach for the ‘playbook’ to get him to accept a lower bid.

We shall see…

He’s an asset which is worth £150m but which will be worth 0 in 3 years if we agree with him to just run his contract down and then walk, as the original post suggested

I just don’t see Levy doing that

I don’t believe you can create an asset value on something you haven’t brought
I’d need an accountant to clarify

That interview with Gary neville seemed to give a fairly clear indication without explicitly stating it

Which is what I thought when I read the publicity extracts. But then having watched the interview, I thought it was far less clear and I felt a lot better about the situation.
Personally I think we've got him for another year, and now it will be down to how he works with Nuno and whether he feels the club can finally meet his ambition (and of course he has his own significant part to play in attaining that).

Your getting hung up on the word 'asset', but no you generally cant capitalise an internally developed intangible (I am a qualified accountant!). I'm not sure how this works in the football world because its the player's registration with the club which is the 'asset'

Anyway, ignoring the word, we have something which is worth £150m today and which we could sell for £150m, but in 3 years it will be worth 0 under the above suggestion of allowing him to run his contract down. Thats not something whic Levy will do IMO

Which is exactly the opposite of how Neville describes it
Where did g never say that? Got any links?

I'd say Harry talking about how he had to have a serious conversation with Daniel levy indicates an eagerness to go. My take on the footage 1that I saw was thst he was very much of the mind that he needed to move on to win trophies. Happy to see any evidence to the contrary.

Hope you're right, I only saw a few clips, not the whole interview.

I agree, one more year. And it will be beautiful.
