It seems to for Chelsea. Madrid want Bale, I'm sure we could put it to them that he won't be going there if they choose to strengthen our direct rival. Why wouldn't we do this? And why would Madrid not listen?

GARETH BALE showed up to Spurs' training ground amid reports that a move to Real Madrid has been put on hold.
Reports indicated that a £93m fee had been agreed for Bale and was expected to finalise his transfer to the Spanish capital this afternoon.

If Bale is going to Madrid he will want to be fit and ready to play as soon as possible. The training ground is a good place to train. If he is really injured it's where the physios and doctors will check him out. You'd only expect him to avoid the training ground if the dealings were getting acrimonious.

But how are you going to get a headline from that? Much better to claim he's only showing up because his move that was 110% certain to be announced today ,we have "sources" and "reports" telling us so, has been blocked.
