The noises coming out of Palace were that they would sell for £35m. Considering we'd be able to punt him on for £20-£25m this summer at the very worst that seems like a good "don't get relegated" insurance policy to me?

Are Palace desperate for money? That would be suicide for them to sell Mateta at this point. There are looking over their shoulder as much as us.,..

Would probably do a lot better than Muani has this season for us. Seems like he would be a good fit for Frank.

Cheaper than relegation, but also we imo should aim higher than him for signings we're spending that kind of money on.

The problem is that players better than him are aiming higher than Spurs if moving clubs.

Absolutely. So for me the smart thing to do from a long term perspective is to spend that money elsewhere or on a younger player with potential or bust not sign that player until we can sign someone really good.

Short term though we need to not get relegated and are eeking our way towards a relegation scrap. So it may be time to just ignore the longer term and get an immediate fix. To me part of the reason we're in this mess in the first place is too many years of not having a sufficiently long term focus so I'm hesitant to say we should just focus on here and now. But two or three losses more upcoming now and that may look different and by then the transfer window will be closed.

You mean exactly how we have got into this particular current mess?

He misses so many chances though. Missed a big one again at 0-0 vs Chelsea. I'm not against his signing but I hate to think how Spurs fans would react to him.

I know a few Palace fans having lived in the territory and they love him (loathe him for leaving) they are fairly unanimous that his forms now is because his heads gone

Not for me. For me not doing that from the latter years under Poch until Paratici came around is how we got into this mess.

Having to rebuild from there I think we had to go for a strategy aimed to a significant extent at younger players and mid to long term thinking. I think that's the best way for us to get back to where we want to be. Unless we had gotten a massive (and I mean massive) cash injection.

For no other reason than we have stock piled the worlds corner in youth after Chelsea, we can't go back otherwise it looks even more horrific and a waste of time, made even more so because we spent a large portion of the 1bn training ground on youth.

Where we have fcuked it is the balance, we now seem solely reliant on kids or third rate pros...........The Kids of United we ain't

I just think it stinks of being small time to ever say you want to roll over and lose on purpose, it didn't sit well with me under Ange either and I agreed massively with his take on it

Ange didn’t read the room re his comments about not wanting Arsenal to win the league. He was reading a tiny corner of the room and I’m amazed he didn’t get it given he managed Celtic so he must have a vague idea of why rivalries are so important to football fans.

This situation is completely different, we simply cannot afford to mail it in for any of our remaining fixtures. For the record I think the players tried their best against Emirates Marketing Project that night.
