All rides on our next 3 home games I think.

- Emirates Marketing Project we have a good record against, agree that it will suit his style
- Saudi Sportswashing Machine really up and down and definitely beatable
- Arsenal's wobbles might have started and anything could happen in a derby. Crowd will hopefully be right up for

Get 6 or 7 points from those games and he will have earnt himself a stay of execution until the end of the season for me. Then he's got the 3 months from Arsenal until the end of the season as somewhat of a free hit to show us what the future would look like with him at the helm.

Lose all 3 of those and he'll be done. Perhaps unfair that a difficult run like this should be decisive, but that's what those results against West Ham, Burnley, Bournemouth, Sunderland etc will get you.
Think it will hinge on the away game to United too, if he lasts that long.

Depends of course on how those teams below us do (particularly West Ham), but somewhere between zero and three points from those games and we could quite possibly be counting ourselves in a relegation scrap.

On one hand Frank is probably one of those "could be handy in a relegation scrap" type managers. But if we get there chances are things have soured to the point that actually doing that job will be very difficult.

I agree that a good run now could give him a "free hit". Getting increasingly difficult to see how that happens.

We want to lose to City though?

There is no chance I wanna roll over for City, none
We can't afford to this season. We are in real danger of going down, probably relying on at least two of West Ham, Burnley and Forest not to put a run together at some point in order for us to be safe.

If we go down then we are in massive trouble with our wage bill and huge level of debt. I am really surprised that the club haven't done something like putting in a bid for Mateta at, or at least close to, the £35m that Palace are apparently wanting. Frank's system needs a lump up front to sling it up to and if Solanke breaks down we are in even bigger trouble than we are now. Mateta in would likely be enough for us to secure our safety, while also putting Palace more in the do-do.

I just think it stinks of being small time to ever say you want to roll over and lose on purpose, it didn't sit well with me under Ange either and I agreed massively with his take on it

So did I, though at least we were losing that game from a position of absolutely not being able to get relegated :D

What are your thoughts on Mateta by the way?

Always rated him, I put in on here last year when I saw him at the FA Cup Semi and he run the game, run the channels and was quick, worked hard, great feet, alot more to him than a target man
I think he would work really well in Frank's anti football system and could also work in most systems. Apparently available (for the right price) proven in England, could come straight in and contribute, means we're not preying that Solanke doesn't get injured and weakens a direct rival for relegation. If Redknapp was manager he is the sort of signing he would be demanding from the board.

Def got alot to his game more than being just a target man, he is a massive upgrade on Richy which is key as we need to get him rid ASAP.

We won't be buying a striker until we sell Richi. With Richi being injured there is zero chance of that happening this window, would be summer at best....

Let's keep everything crossed that Solanke stays fit then and also strap in for the relegation battle ride!

(if we really are back to this sell to buy crap then maybe relegation and the inevitable sale of THFC is the best option for us!)

He misses so many chances though. Missed a big one again at 0-0 vs Chelsea. I'm not against his signing but I hate to think how Spurs fans would react to him.

Wonder if Palace would be open to a swap Richi > Mateta.

Probably not in the short term due to his injury thinking about it
The noises coming out of Palace were that they would sell for £35m. Considering we'd be able to punt him on for £20-£25m this summer at the very worst that seems like a good "don't get relegated" insurance policy to me?
