Everton

They are saying that cat afford to pay us for Dele if he plays enough to trigger a payment. Wanting us to lower/drop the fee in Dele's best interest so he can play again.

So I'm guessing they are still close for a few more seasons.

Yeah.

I know they haven't spent much recently, but due to amortisation transfers are spread over the length of the contract. While sales give a 1 off boost to finances. Their wages were also 96% of turnover at one point.

They might be ok. But think they still need to be careful.

Simple solution, we'll adjust the fee again future Richi payments. Not our fault they didn't budget properly. And Dele shouldn't have be denied opportunity to perform his job because they can't budget properly.

Not very good PR for them to say they won't play someone who is overcoming huge mental health issues because of money owed if they do.

Apparently we now have the hump with them because of their Richarlison transfer comment and aren't going to negotiate the fee, which may also be bad PR for us!

Dele is out of contract in the summer. We might aswell take a mil or 2 now off them. Unless there is something else in the deal that means they'll have to pay more if the contract runs out.

I’ve come to the conclusion points deductions solve little. Transgressions around finances need financial controls.

Clubs that are found guilty of these sort of offences should have expenditure constrained beyond the standard limits, tv appearance money forfeited and so on. Eventually advantages they have experienced are proportionally offset by penal disadvantage.

City have enough money to ignore any financial penalty.

The owners have the money not the club. They are accused of faking the clubs real financial position.

That is the fudging point of the rules. This is about stability, what happens when the Sheikh leaves? The club may be unviably inflated, they’ll collapse, and their passing success just a footnote.

If they have cheated they have to be deflated back to sustainable entity and a one off after the fact deduction of points achieves nothing.

People are talking more than a points deduction for city.

Ffp is meant to limit a clubs spending. If they break that your punishment would be to limit their spending? Doesn't make sense.

Part of the punishment should be ongoing independent scrutiny of the offending clubs accounts and business activities, paid for by the club via a recharge, until a set period (maybe a decade?) of providing they have followed the rules has been completed.
That should help with improved business culture for existing offenders and act as deterrent for others - no-one wants that level of scrutiny.

Even if Emirates Marketing Project were relegated to Lge 1 (which would be quite extraordinary!), they'd be back in two years. It would be an inconvenience, but not really a punishment.

If you understand efl spending rules it would be a huge punishment.

Player costs not to exceed 60% or turnover. 70% of sales value usable for calculations.
Emirates Marketing Project could easily absorb that with a few squad player sales and walk the leagues whilst doing the Poznan.
Two year loans out for any players that don't want to stay also reduces the player related costs.
They'd get away with keeping ticket prices at a similar level too.

Loss of £100m in tv revenue another from cl revenue. Whatever adjustments from commercial and ticket prices. You could probably see them lose £400m in revenue (maybe more). So yes they'd have to sell.
Not sure if any would have the balls but some players could sue to leave the club. Especially if their bonuses were effected. It's not their fault they would be relegated (especially 2 divisions).
They would also (i'm guessing) be stripped of titles and forever more be known as cheats.

With the money the uae has, yes they'd be ok. Especially if the efl doesn't close the loaning between clubs that have the same owner loophole. But it would hurt.

Not to mention if clubs decided to sue.

The player suing angle is interesting - if Everton players do it, it could be as significant as bosman.

The stripping of titles is the interesting part for me. There might be just enough political pressure for that to happen, but the PL will be very reluctant.

Juventus had 2 stripped.

I'd leave them blank though rather than awarding them to second place. As a reminder that they cheated.
