Looking at the replies is like walking into a pub in Harlow with a flat roof; why would you do it?
Check the replies. Man our country has gone to pot.

Wow, is he really the first muslim?
I'm not on x so can't read them, unfortunately it's not a leap to imagine what they are, but how can you cheer on your country but single out a player and expect the best results for your country?

It's nuts.
Yeah, sounds about right.English if he does something good, a black muslim otherwise.
Did Djed mention his religion or was it raised by a journo? If the former, that's fine. If the latter, why? There's absolutely no need to single out a protected characteristic. Just let the lad focus and enjoy his debut.
Does anyone have a link to the full conversation?

only when there is a positive spin around it, but when it’s not the case then it’s hidden. I think that’s where the balance needs addressingHe has mentioned it loads on his socials, been a thing for a while.
Good luck to the lad and well done for being proud of who you are and where you come from.......
That's great that he's confident and strong enough to do that.He regularly posts about his faith on Instagram.
He's OK wearing it. And GHod do we need people to see us as more than animals.
Last few weeks have felt like it more then ever. Never felt less welcome in my own country
I think it will change big time. At my level there's been a huge influx of British South Asians (both indian and pakistani) over the last 5 or so years, which is something very new. Its been really good to see. Some very decent players tooIt is a good story, it is a bit odd that there aren't more English muslims that come into pro-football. Partly i guess many are of south asian background and cricket is a competing priority. I thought Hamza Choudary looked promising early on in his career and he played for England u21s but he never kicked on....
I still think cult hero amd Renaissance man Alfie Whiteman can get there, even though his career has suffered a recent blow and he's currently clubless. The good will out!My dream is to see an ethnic Pakistani play for Englands football team.
They really need to shut down twitter, its the worst social media platform on the internet for racism and discrimination. This after a 5 second scan stood out FML
