If someone didn't actually watch and just saw his goal stats they would think he was a quality player. I know that for a fact because every non Spurs fan even some Spurs Fans would point to his numbers whenever I criticised him. Along with a good degree of surprise from my non Spurs mates that we were selling him. They didn't understand it, but that's because they looked purely at the numbers.

Numbers are cool but honestly raw g/a doesn't mean a great deal to me when referring to creative and attacking players. They tell a story yes, but a very limited one. I prefer just watching analysing.

Yeah i mean the reason i posted the g/a was because Rob had posted Kulus numbers further up the page, not as a discussion ender, though i do belive the further forward up the pitch you go the greater importance the numbers play - though of course you need to factor in the eye test also otherwise you end up with a Johnson/Richarlison situation. Maddison for me was much more involved on the ball in the AM position, in terms of build up & playmaking responsibilities. Kulu was more of a driving forward type of player.

Well I guess we just disagree on which was more important. I will remind you that at the time Maddison is the one who got dropped and not Kulu.

It was probably the Forest match that stood out , he was able keep possession of the ball far better than Richy/Dom can at the moment, he held off Forest defenders single handed , think it was quite rare for him to play up top but can in an emergency, somebody better tell RDZ.

I thought he looked good when played up top, such a small sample size though. If we ever wanted to go for that false 9 system occasionally then we could do a lot worse, but obviously longer term you want a striker.

I don't think you can play a false 9 unless you have a goalscoring WF like Son. Maybe Tel will become that. But with the rest of our current setup, we just need a goal machine up top

Agreed, or a lot of goals from wide areas.
I think Rashford on loan would be good
 
How we need this guy back fit and firing. He's not the best at shooting, maybe the one weakness in his game is being more clinical with shots. But otherwise he has it all imo. We need his tricky, his fight and determination. Was the best player for us and carried us in many matches under Ange.
 
I feel we are forgetting how frustrating Kulu could be when he did play. He had some world class performances for sure but lets not forget how he used to keep hold of it for too long, running into trouble and being outnumbered and the little flicks and tricks and ricochets that he needed a little luck to come away with the ball after. In the middle there was less of that and i feel he was at his best, out on the wing i don’t rate him unless its against City.

I think if we had both Madds and Kulu together at the same time then we'd feel like we had one major player that could contribute. Perhaps over time they could prove fitness and we'd feel like we have 2. Then Xavi appears as well.
