Danny Rose

Yep. Still a bit petulant at times and prone to making stupid lunging tackles, but very good yesterday. .

He looked like a proper FB not a converted winger yesterday. The referee was brilliant yesterday he did not get fooled but another ref on another day and Rose gets sent off.
Ironically the replay showed that the ref got it wrong when he called the foul that got Rose shouting at him.

I never understand why players take the time to swear/yell at the ref, its like they think refs will not take this into account when making decisions for/against them.

Danny Rose makes Garth Crooks' Team of the Week (as does Gylfi Sigurdsson and Christian Eriksen)...

DEFENDER - DANNY ROSE (Tottenham)

Danny Rose is another Tottenham player who has returned to White Hart Lane after a loan spell looking like a player with a big future.

The two blocks he produced to deny Norwich striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel from scoring were enough to make your eyes water.

Did you know?

Danny Rose's passing accuracy rate against Norwich was 91.8%, higher than other player that started for Spurs.

FORWARD - GYLFI SIGURDSSON (Tottenham)

John Hartson spoke with glowing praise on Final Score about this player's performance for Spurs in the 2-0 win against Norwich. His first goal was so technically brilliant that Hartson's jaw visibly dropped while watching in the studio.

The Iceland international was unlucky not to get a hat-trick on the day and his link-up play with Christian Eriksen is another feature well worth keeping an eye on.

Did you know?

Sigurdsson's brace against Norwich was his third in the Premier League. However, it was his first on home soil.

FORWARD - CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN (Tottenham)

A most impressive debut crowned by the most exquisite of passes for Gylfi Sigurdsson's opening goal against Norwich.

The former Ajax favourite appears comfortable on the left or right side and has enough Champions League experience to be a major asset for Tottenham's European campaign and all for a mere £12m at the tender age of 21.

Did you know?

Eriksen has already assisted four goals in five league games in 2013-14 (for Ajax & Spurs).

Often it's not "taking the time to". It's a quick response to a perceived injustice in a high temperament environment where not being aggressive enough is as much of a flaw as being too aggressive.

Most players only learn to balance these things as they get older and more experienced. Most younger players have at least some problems with it and it's no surprise really as it's not an easy situation to handle.

I've now seen three different reports quoting AVB on Rose's injury as being "another extension of the big toe"

This sounds like nonsense to me. I'm no medic, but could this be misreporting of "an OVEREXTENSION of the big toe"?

Andre Villas-Boas expects Danny Rose will be out of action until after this month’s international break as he continues his recovery from a foot injury.

The left-back has missed the last nine games after limping off during the 3-0 home win over Tromso in the Europa League on September 19.

Rose was not initially expected to be out for too long – indeed, at one stage, Villas-Boas said the defender had a “90 per cent chance” of facing Chelsea on September 28.

However, the 23-year-old is yet to return to first-team training – and he has already been ruled out of the next three games against Everton, FC Sheriff and Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

“We still haven’t been able to have Danny Rose back into training with the first team so that will take a little bit more time,” said Villas-Boas.

“It’s not something that we can control, because all of our exams have told us that the joint is fine, but we have to wait for the pain to go away.

“We can’t really do anything apart from the typical treatment we are doing. We’re conservative because you really have to wait for the pain to go away.

“The player has actually trained and run and shot with football boots on, but if pain keep coming back we always have to delay his recovery. At the moment we’re dealing with that.

“He’s already a big step up from where he was two weeks ago, but we’re probably still going to see him back after the November international break.”

It seemed like such an innocuous injury at the time, a shame he's missing so many games that would be great for his development.

Indeed. If he stays injured throughout December, that's probably the end of his spell as the first choice left-back of the club. We cannot afford to go through the entire season with the glaring lack of width we've been seeing in the last few games, and buying a new left-back in January would solve that problem nicely, and despite the damage it would do to Rose's chances of starting, it's what we need to do as a club if we are to have any chance of converting our bog-standard approach play into something more permanent and penetrative.

No it didn't. He pulled up in pain earlier in the game, and then tried to play on. He was sprinting down the channel when suddenly something snapped and he pulled up in agony.

Unless I'm dreaming? That's what I remember.

Those are the worst injuries, running on your own and then TWANG something goes pop and you're fooked. Much worse than a challenge, dead leg, sore whack.
