Not sure about MoTM but he done ok. Wasn't tested too much, but what he had to deal with, he did well. But going forward I thought he didn't do too much. Got in promising positions and then gave it away. But can only really judge him properly when he is properly tested.

I think Benny has a better composure about him and is far better at playing and passing his way out of trouble. Also, he is quite creative for a full back when he gets forward which we are lacking a bit at the moment.

Without a doubt, he had a decent game yesterday but it was against a side which will probably get relegated, he will not good enough when the big/better teams come.

Is that a serious comment? Benteke scored 20 goals for one of the worst teams in the league. Proving you can score goals in a brick side is a much different kettle of fish to simply impressing people and having a few good performances at left back.
well tbf it was intended as tongue in cheek, but it's still worth highlighting all the same:
Rose played well for a brick Sunderland side and you rightly asked why that should mean he's good enough for a top 4 club.
which is exactly the argument others were using in debates with you over Benteke. of course a striker player well for a brick team will score goals - that's their job and as has been discussed before - there are plenty of examples of average forwards who scored 20 goals or so with brick teams - purely playing well and scoring goals for a brick team is not all you need to say that they can do it higher up. just the same that purely playing well in a defensive position for a rubbish team is enough.

I think AVB likes quick full backs who are able to go on the overlap and get back repeatedly throughout the game. Presumably he expects Rose to do a better job of that than Benny.
Personally I think Rose is positionally suspect, both going forward and defensively, and Benny is far better on the ball in terms of retaining and recycling possession (but admittedly not in terms of attacking their full back or speed up and down).
AVB is the manager and its his opinion that counts, but I'm sorry to see Benny frozen out if that is what is happening. Benny's a great character, who has a refreshing attitude to a sport that has become dominated by money.

Danny Rose claims he has received assurances from Andre Villas-Boas about his Tottenham future, despite the club’s pursuit of a left-back during the summer.
Rose is likely to be first choice in the position for the rest of the year after Spurs failed to recruit Villas-Boas’s top defensive target — Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao.
With Coentrao staying in Spain, Rose has the chance to establish himself after an impressive season on loan at Sunderland — and the England Under-21 international is confident he has the faith of Villas-Boas.
“I spoke to the manager about the left-back situation and he assured me that if he still wanted a change, he’d come to speak to me first, which is great,” said Rose (above). “I wasn’t looking to go anywhere just yet. I’m enjoying the run in the team and long may it continue.”
Benoit Assou-Ekotto’s departure means Kyle Naughton, who is right-footed, and centre-back Jan Vertonghen represent the only logical cover for Rose at left-back. If Rose stays fit and in good form, he has the perfect opportunity ahead of him.
Rose, 23, has been at White Hart Lane since 2007 but this is the first time he has started a season as first choice. His elevation is one of several changes to the Spurs squad, with seven new players arriving at the club following the world-record sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
Tottenham broke their transfer record on three occasions — signing Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela — with the transfer of Lamela from Roma, which could eventually cost £30million, the most expensive.
The Argentina forward made his debut as a late substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Arsenal last Sunday and Rose warned that it might be some time before they see the best of Lamela.
He said: “I hope people don’t expect too much from him too soon. We have to allow him to settle. Soldado has scored four times already and Etienne Capoue has looked very solid, so neither of those two has looked out of place.
“You look through the whole team and you see that you’ve got two strong players in each position and it’s great. We’ve got a very good squad.
“We’ve given ourselves a good platform and we’ll take it from there, although it’s too early to guess where we might finish. The aim is to finish in the top four.”

Nice to see Danny Rose impress again yesterday. He is playing with more and more confidence and I am definitely comfortable with him starting for us. I was so happy we did not sign Fabio Coentrao because I always felt he would stunt Danny's development.

Show me a left back that has a consistently good end product though. For most of them it's the reason they are left backs rather than left midfield. You're probably looking at Baines as one of the only ones who can claim a good end product consistently, and even then I don't watch him enough to judge his crossing, he just takes a lot of free kicks and penalties to affect the game.
Rose was class yesterday. His confidence is great. The way he best the Norwich players sometimes with dummies and fakes...it was brilliant. He does provide a good end product for a left back and most importantly he provides the width and is able to bomb up the wing to provide an option as soon as he have recovered the ball. That's why he and Walker will be so important to us this season. If it was Benny, he would be slightly slower and isn't comfortable beating his man on the run. It would slow the breaks down and give the opposition time to organise.
