Cristian Romero

Very, very on-brand for him to get sent off the way he did.

It's amusing because he spent a couple of seasons being careful about red cards and it felt like his reputation as an unstable nutcase was fading. Then he gets sent off the way he did today, letting everyone down, and you realise that his reputation will never improve, and maybe rightly so.

Some macaronic decisions today, and maybe we need to take the captaincy off him and give it to someone who can think with his brain instead of his studs.

He can only control himself for so long. He’s a loose cannon. He’ll lose his rag eventually. Him and Bruno Fernandes have got to be the worst captains in the league.

Emirates Marketing Project courted Kane very publicly.

Son made it clear he wanted to stay here.

Romero has been fairly ambiguous with his comments about staying until recently.

Based on what we know publicly which in reality is very very little

I just dont buy the whole "if they were thay good they wouldn't be here" rubbish.

Blokes won the lot away from Spurs, if anyone's the ugly sister its us not him

The sad thing is, he probably still is our best defender - but as I have constantly said, he's not in the real top class bracket because he always has a brain fart in him.

But let's look on the positive side, whenever he is missing we have a more than able replacement in Danso - plus I think Dragusin is actually a very good defender too, so we are ok in this area.....

I’m not talking about his role in the Europa League. I’m speaking purely about Argentina. Without Messi and Di Maria they don’t win those tournaments.
Although he was in team of the tournament for two out of three of then if memory serves

Messi claims he is the best defender he played with, means little in Spurs world where we achieve little and judge most.

I agree with you, but I actually think VDV is our best and most indispensable defender tbh. Romero is too unstable to be top class in my opinion.

Yeah I guess it depends on your definition of defender. VDV isn't that good a pure defender (still decent of course) but his pace gets him out of a fair few mistakes positionally etc he makes.

Purely at the art of defending I think Romero is better, but considering overall Romero's liability and what else VDV offers I would rather not lose VDV for sure...
