I said a few weeks ago that, if he signs a new deal and stays a few more years, he'd be up there with Kane and Son when the time comes to rank our legends.

I am very glad he's apparently taken that to heart! :D

For me, this is the best business done this window, bar none - it's sometimes easy to forget what an absolute Rolls Royce of a player Cuti can be when he's fit and firing. He has no weaknesses to his game whatsoever. He has pace, strength and is a towering header of the ball. He can read the game superbly, he dribbles past players on the regular and plays some absolutely defence-splitting passes from deep.

And perhaps most importantly - he has an iron mentality that makes him never back down, and a relentless desire to win.

Him signing on for a few more years is absolutely massive for what it means to the club, his teammates, and our chances of success. Huge, huge kudos all around.

Had 3-4 poor losses of possession, misplaced passes that gave them counter attacking opportunities.

He was a bit rusty/sloppy may be part of it. I think part of it was he tried to do too much in part as a result of others not taking enough responsibility.

To what extent it was tactical I'm not sure, but in the second half others (imo particularly Gray) took more responsibility. Romero then had a really good ambitious pass in the buildup to the third.
 
Though I'm not nearly as big a fan as most here, I'm happy with this, it's a compliment to the club in some ways. And we avoided the worst case scenario of him continuing to play for us without a new contract signed. He seems like a cup player rather than a league one and I'm quite happy for us to collect a few more cups. Injuries are still an issue though, maybe Frank can manage him and Richarlison better than previous managers.
 
We have progressed. We used to be forced into selling our best players.

The other exciting prospect, is Frank experimenting with 3 at the back, with Romero (and VDV) able to step into midfield. Both pretty formidable when they do get up the pitch. Romero with his passing and intent, VDV with his running he's hard to stop!

Can't be many squads that are more suited than ours to switching between a back 3 and a back 4?

As you say players comfortable at stepping into midfield. But also quite a few of our centre backs that are really good at defending in wider areas. 3 full backs that are also comfortable and have experience playing as wing backs (Porro and Spence at least, not sure on Udogie).

We do imo still have some balance issues in midfield, but in terms of the work rate and physicality needed to operate in more of a 2 man midfield with a back 3 we for sure have that too.
