Coronavirus

Modern leftists are less interested in change than they are people noticing them caring about something.

That's why all the social media screeching continually fails to materialise at the ballot box.
That's the rights perception of the left. The left's perception of the right is that they are all small minded bigots yearning to return to a past that never existed, and who would destroy the planet and everyone on it to fulfill insatiable greed for money and power, but I'm sure that's not 100% true either ;). Anyway the UK is not even a democracy, nor has a modern political system and so is really an outlier.

I would say the opposite. The social-democratic movement is on the rise in response to rising autocracy. The me generation, as you put it, is just the sandwich filler. They are oblivious to everything unless it is on instaface.

theres something interesting going on in the political landscape. theres undoubtably been a rise in more leftist politics - seen by the rise in popularity of sanders/corbyn. However, to win elections it appears that the right wing candidates (ie Trump) have largely played up to very conservative policies and speeches, whilst the leftist candidate has to actually bow to conservative policies here and there to garner enough support.

Well just got back from hospital. I am private but every time I have had to use the NHS they have been amazing and I can not question or criticise anything they did. Without going over the top, they just saved my life.

Tested positive, still feel rough but am able to breathe properly now. Will be self isolating at home, my immune system was still low because of the chemo out in China in January, they could not quite believe it when i told them where i had been.

It has been the strangest few months of my life and im just so glad my wife and son appear fine at the moment.

Dont think i have ever been so tired in my life. It was also the scariest time of my life. Just want this year to be over and see something nice and positive happen. Got to sit in the conservatory this afternoon looking at the garden with the sun on it and it felt like paradise.

Think people should all be nicer to one another because life is short.
Welcome back.
Been checking to see if you were online or somewhere else
And don’t get caught knocking one out in the conservatory... save your energy

The left's perception of the right is that they are all small minded bigots yearning to return to a past that never existed, and who would destroy the planet and everyone on it to fulfill insatiable greed for money and power, but I'm sure that's not 400% true either ;). Isnt it more like everyone else is racist and in it for themselves and only themselves ... and they all love Tommy Robinson
I know when I voted out for Brexit I got called a racist... even when I explained why I voted out after working with a big American bank who threatened to make all their staff redundant if we did vote out (my only reason as big Corp should not control the country)

Yes, there is a snapback for sure but winning elections from the left is not easy as it is such a big tent IMO. Right-wing politics has a focused message and homogenous base from which to draw. The left is everyone else, and it's a diverse bunch with many voices which is as hard to corral as a herd of cats. The rights base though is an ever diminishing demographic so it is only a matter of time. All in my opinion of course.

Mate I don't really want to get drawn back into more rounds of deep Brexit analysis (I prefer snide comments dropped in every now and then ;)). People voted for many different reasons. You had your reason and anyone calling you racist is an arsehole. It is as simple as that really.

They need to contact a spiritualist as socialism is dead.
I wish people would stop useing this coronavirus as a politcal football for their own political ends.
Its disgracefull how this is happening. I'm bricking it here with a heart condition...who would have thought this was going to happen anyway and its so easy to criticise with hindsight..

Some people are doing their best to help....

That's been claimed for decades, if not centuries and hasn't materialised yet.

Over time, some of those leftists stop virtue signalling and get jobs. Then they get houses, mortgages, kids, cars, investments - responsibilities in general, and conservative values start to become far more appealing.

Yet, in reality, most just want the govt to do what suits them personally.

Leftism is basically looking at other people with nice things and saying "I want that, someone should take it from them and give it all to me" and conservatism is someone having nice things saying "this is nice, I really hope nobody steals it from me"

And that's it in a nutshell

'Things' being so important in people's lives.

It should be way down the list.

It's a controlling mechanism in so many ways.

Your perception of the left is just a series of memes . :)

That's true but every dog has it's day. The white patriarchy that has dominated US politics forever really is now not the majority demographic. And they've seen the change coming for decades out and have tilted the board to remain in power as long as possible. In my opinion, what we are seeing now is the death rattle but maybe they'll manage to go full mafia state before the election.

The left looks at nice things and say why have the greedy right hoarded all of them and built a wall around the lot.

Pleased you're okay! Have to be patient, 'cuse the pun, and rest up. You'll be back on the custard in no time. How were NHS meals compared to Chinese hospital ones?
