Yep rate him very highly but don’t rate their squad or transfer business at all.

They still have a lot of very, very good players especially in attack. Now Salah and his ego have left and Isak is back they should be more cohesive in that area, but they are still one or two defensive injuries away from a bad season.

But they should be one if the teams we are looking to directly compete with for a CL spot this season.

May be the way he plays
And of course may be a lack of effort

I think we might be looking at him for the more central number 9 role as well, bear with me… the BBC did an article on Gakpo saying he prefers to play centrally and there was a video posted in the tactics thread saying RDZ likes his 9 and 10 to drop deeper in build up play and the wide forwards stay high to stretch it. That would suit Gakpo in the 9.

I wonder whether he’s been shoe horned into that LW/LM role and it doesn’t fully suit him?

He is a better LW than 9

I’ve never seen him play as a 9 personally. But the point is not all systems use the 9 in the same way and according to that video RDZ’s 9’s are more AMs rather than play on the shoulder of a CB, Lineker style strikers.

Many others have underpinned how his defensive work is a real plus. I don't personally think he will be the one now, lets see
