Manchester United baulk at £20m fee for Saudi Sportswashing Machine director Dan Ashworth

Dan Ashworth has been placed on gardening leave by Saudi Sportswashing Machine after finally telling the St James’ Park hierarchy he wants to join Manchester United. It seems the starting pistol signalling an intense period of haggling between the two clubs has been fired, with Saudi Sportswashing Machine wanting £20m in compensation.

Ashworth has only been sporting director at St James’ Park for 20 months and Saudi Sportswashing Machine’s majority Saudi Arabian owners will not allow a man they poached from Brighton to depart easily or cheaply.

It's odd that a club would be put off by such a small fee if they think he is the man for the job. If he's any good he could save them hundreds of millions in dud transfers.

It's even more odd that some think the equivalent of 200 luxury cars is 'a small fee' for getting some administrative clerk to change employer.

Good outcome if it unsettles both of them

Chelsea had to pay £10m for Arnesen, and that was 20 years ago

HOLY fudge! That is a fudging leg breaker! Honestly, the bias towards City, Liverpool, Arse and United is sickening!
In his defence, I would say it's probably clumsy more than malicious. Whereas Romero in the past has definitely clearly tried to do players in.

Not saying it's not a red card mind you, just trying to add some balance.

That's irrelevant, as they have completely removed intention from the rules. People have been sent off for turning around, with control of the ball, and just put their foot down naturally, but hitting an opponent.

Come to think of it, that was actually Rashford. That was utterly ridiculous!
This one by Maguire is 100 times worse!

What you don't realise is those are elite clubs and their players are far better than any others and incidents like that are pure accidents that couldn't be avoided.

When was that made official then? Isn't it still categorised? Violent, dangerous, reckless etc? Those imply different levels of intent don't they?

Its what used to be called a forward's tackle, but in this case was caused by him just being so off the pace
