I absolutely love him, has been my fav player this season
Low bar I know but for his attitude on and off the pitch, his willingness to play anywhere for the team
The boy is a superstar

Our new manager said he has seen a lot of our recent matches. I hope however it means we will not longer see Gray play as a full back/wing back. He has a pivotal role to play in our future.

I hate to say this, but if Romero is out for the season, and De Zerbi wants us to play out from the back, I think we might have to play Archie at CB if only to ensure we have some passing capability in our CBs. Danso is a better box-defender perhaps, but he is not a passer at all, thus we will just be going sideways all the time.
Archie at CB would at least allow us passing from that area, plus he has experience of the role.
We are going to have to get creative.

Richy is not ideal as a lone striker but he offers me than Solanke right now who is bang out of form. Muani is not at it. Gallagher isn't either. Spence would at least offer some speed and presence wide. Xavi has to play. I might consider Palhinha over Bergy to start...

Gray has to continue in midfield, for me. If there is a concern about Danso's passing ability (and I think Steff overstates that, personally), then let Gray come a bit deeper to collect from him if need be.

Gray is too conservative but with good reason - romero is ill disciplined and richy tracks back but offers no protection.

Likewise, he's a decent passer. I'd rather keep Gray in midfield tbh. Danso is a significantly better defender than him and Gray's passing doesn't compensate for what we lose defensively that it would be worth hampering two positions at the same time.

I'd go the other way round. Porro's asset is his deep diagonal crosses. Whereas Spence showed against Dortmund that he can be a genuine driving dribbler from a wing position.

I think which way round is dependent on if we have any intention that the deeper player is going to be doing any under lapping/overlapping.

He looks to have little ability to me. His first touch is shocking; he makes bizarre runs (when he can be bothered to move out of jog mode); he has no idea how to work back and defend; and he spent the vast majority of yesterday’s game hiding in plain sight.

I can’t wait to see the back of him. Up there with our worst ever signings.

Could not agree more, he has hardy offered much in most games, looks a lazy bastard to me who thinks he is doing us a favour by being here.

No way I play Gray at CB, @thfcsteff. He's our best midfielder/player. We need round pegs in round holes and Danso is a very round peg for CB while Gray is a round peg for CM. I also want clean sheets or for us to concede as few as possible and Danso at CB offers a better chance of that than Gray.
