Antonin Kinsky

The problem is beyond his slip and poor control for the 3rd which is unusual for him, as he genuinely does have good feet he's a pretty poor shot stopper. Picking him, even in sympathy would just be a poor decision especially after the first leg.

I agree the 3rd was a technical fudge up that comes from lack of game time. If we played a RB last night that has only played 1 game all season and he slipped like that and then miskicked the ball, we would be annoyed but not writing his career off

Does he pull his hand away from one of the goals? That and the gift, shades of Grobbelaar.

I noticed that as well, but I don’t think it’s a “Grobblaar” special, more that he is genuinely a terrible shot stopper.

It’s amazing that anyone with half a brain would want to choose him over Vicario, who undoubtedly also has his issues but is levels clear of where Kinksy is.

He should've been loaned out in January and an experienced keeper brought in. Yet more terrible squad management at THFC.

Vicario has been poor for most of the season and yet still the manager didn't bring Kinksy in, either because the manager knows he is too inexperienced or knows that he simply isn't good enough. Yet we have gone into the second half of the season with no real alternative option.

I have heard quite a few pros and ex pros say that it takes a certain type to be a back-up goalkeeper. You don't really get any competitive games so it is hard to switch on when you do. That is often why back-up keepers are older, experienced ones who can draw on that experience when having to come in to play having not had any first team football for a while. Kinsky needs to be playing and developing somewhere IMO, he and his agent should be demanding that. He is too young and is (or at least was) considered too talented to have his career stunted as a back-up.
Quite a few of us wanted us to get Kelleher. It was criminal we didn't get him considering the price.

I'm not writing his career off due to the performance. Like you I was a keeper also to a decent level. I'm just not convinced by his brick stopping in general, he never seems to get his spread right, a lot of shots appear quite savable to me at times. If you look at the first goal as an example of you see the behind the shooter angle you see the brick was within reach, he just never actually put his hand all the way out. That's where I'm concerned about him and this isn't the first time I've noted it.

It would be the equivalent of a RB not clearing the ball when it's right in their path, rhythm or rhythm those are kind of the basics. I even said in the match thread when we saw the lineup that it's risky picking him and when people on here had been calling for Vicario to be dropped I pointed the problem was Kinsky was the alternative.

We should have loaned him out in the summer and signed an experienced keeper as backup to Vicario.

I personally wanted to see Kinsky play even though I knew there would likely be issues. I just don’t think Vicario is fit for purpose.

I’ll preface this by saying I didn’t see the game as I’m away with work. But yeah, I’d have left him on the pitch until half time at least. He’s a 22 year old professional, not a 10 year old kid. He’s made it as a pro keeper so he should have the capacity to recover somewhat from a poor start.

What happened last night is something I’ve never seen in my 42 years watching football. It’s staggering to pull a keeper after 15 minutes. The closest parallel I can remember is Karius for Liverpool in the CL final. Klopp never pulled him.

However, let’s say the decision to pull him was correct. The decision to blank him is astonishingly brutal and cold. You’ve just humiliated the guy, show him some compassion, don’t completely throw him to the wolves. Those are not the actions of a manager who can unite this group.

Again, assuming for the sake of argument that pulling him was the right decision, that seriously calls into question the decision to start him especially in such a big game.

What happened with Kinsky last night was appalling on every level for me. However, even if you think hooking him was the right call, that seriously calls into question Tudor’s decision making to start him and man management in how he treated him afterwards.

Shocking carry on.
Adam Clery pretty much says the same. Love his channel. Makes very good videos on football.

The third goal is a result of the 1st. He's trying to not repeat the first mistake, and by doing that he focuses everything on not slipping, and loses track of the ball and mis kicks it. If he didn't slip up the first time, the 2nd wouldn't happen either. It's not his fault that the pitch was awful!

I really feel for him. Time is on his side and hopefully he’ll go on to have a great career - though probably not with us. But the decision to start him last night, away to Atletico? In a champions league knockout match? Good GHod.
Edit: At the same time I guess it shows Tudor is looking to see if replacing Vicario is a possibility. And this tie gave him the chance to try something different. So I suppose there’s logic there somewhere. What impact it’ll have on Vicario remains to be seen - if any.
This is an interesting point. He has basically given Vic the message he has lost faith in him by starting Kinsky, and then Kinsky self-immolates, putting Vicario back to number one. This whole episode has helped no one, least of all the team.

I see some ITK had alleged that Micky said to team mates that he wasn’t bothered if we went down and a lot of the fan base are taking the bait. The rumour surfaced in the Athletic albeit they didn’t name the player. Can’t believe how willing people are to believe it.

Our status and the state of the club really isn’t helping us in this relegation battle because every media outlet is willing us down and looking for some big exclusive story which is feeding the fans’ hunger for explanation and in some instances like this feeding the bias against and spacegoating of individuals.

We really are in the brick because it’s a very, very vicious circle.

Edit, wrong thread but I’m too lazy to move it now…

Wouldn’t be surprised in the least if a player (or more than one) has said that tbh.

The relationship between the players and all other aspects of the club (board, manager, fans) is clearly broken. Many of them know they’re off at the end of the season no matter what. They are human beings.

It’s why our only hope now is someone who can immediately galvanise them - I have no idea how btw.

They're are baiting us. (The fans).

..and most are too thick (once again) to realize they are dividing us.

The complete opposite to a siege mentality....which is exactly what we need right now.

The fans in the stadium have been pretty brick for a while, a lot of booing and moaning.

It built up under Ange but never really reset for TF.
