Antonin Kinsky

It was the right sub. Tough call, but he had to go off after that absolute mare of a start.

It's what happened/didn't happen afterwards that matters.
I don't really see why. Tudor is interim, why does he need to console him for the poor performance. He's gone in maximum 9 games time either way.
Was thinking that a loan for Kinsky now needs to be priority. It's not as if he is ever going to get homegrown status so we should get him out into Europe somewhere, even back at his old club.

Nobody enjoys seeing that happen to these kids.

I was also thinking that if he has been vocal about not getting opportunities, that will probably change him a little now.
I think we should just sell him, not even because of yesterday but he's just a really poor shot stopper. Watch back any game he's played for us and look at the goals he has conceded, the vast majority look very, very savable. He rarely ever actually fully extends to reach the ball and do many of those goals seem really close to him.

It could go either way. Thorstvedt had a nightmare start for us, but recovered to become a great keeper and cup winner. But then Karius never recovered

Karius is playing for Schalke in Germany, isn’t he? It’s hardly Hackney Marshes.

No mention of the manager.

EDIT : fake apparently. Apologies for lack of due diligence!

Amazes me that someone would spend time drafting a fake statement and then uploading it online. Do people really have nothing better to do? (Said by the man who spends far too long on here, but still… 😀).

If for no other reason, it's the decent thing to do. Beyond that, Kinsky is going to have mates in the team, if they see their mate being treated brick it's going to turn those players against him. It obviously tinkled Spence off. At this moment we need a manager that can unite the whole team, those actions don't give me any confidence that he is someone that can do that.

They had 6 months under TF to perform for that kind of manager, they repeatedly treated him with contempt.

It’s their fault they are in this situation.

And why would you bother to make something up that is exactly what everyone would expect him to be saying? Usually these fakes are making up something controversial.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Thanks for clarifying. This isn't neccesarily about what we saw on the pitch, but also what happened in the dressing room afterwards, and in the coming days. It's common decency to support him as a human being. He knows well he fudged up, no need to rub it in.

From a cynical point of view, he's also an asset for Spurs - if we break him completely, his value could plummet.

He should've been loaned out in January and an experienced keeper brought in. Yet more terrible squad management at THFC.

Vicario has been poor for most of the season and yet still the manager didn't bring Kinksy in, either because the manager knows he is too inexperienced or knows that he simply isn't good enough. Yet we have gone into the second half of the season with no real alternative option.

I have heard quite a few pros and ex pros say that it takes a certain type to be a back-up goalkeeper. You don't really get any competitive games so it is hard to switch on when you do. That is often why back-up keepers are older, experienced ones who can draw on that experience when having to come in to play having not had any first team football for a while. Kinsky needs to be playing and developing somewhere IMO, he and his agent should be demanding that. He is too young and is (or at least was) considered too talented to have his career stunted as a back-up.

More worryingly is we needed a new keeper last season season in Jan and we had months to scout one

He was the best option

He was a great signing to make as one for the future. The sort of signing that the likes of Brighton make. I think this season though he should've been out on loan playing real football and developing, with us at the very least bringing in competition for Vicario where the manager would be confident in having that person in the first team and best case scenario bringing in a new first choice (and this isn't revisionary from me I said last summer that I wanted Kelleher).

There were quite a lot of decent keepers available for moves last summer, many on loan or for low fees. It was really poor squad management that we basically went into the season with a substandard number 1 in Vicario and then absolutely nothing to challenge/cover for him.

Kinsky is also a promising keeper that’s been horribly mis managed. But we probably should have just recalled Keeley and signed an expirience #3 just in case.
Keeley left on a permanent. We backed Gunter instead, as he'll be homegrown (Keeley moved from ireland too late)

I think if he started against Atletico on Tuesday he would get a great reception.
The problem is beyond his slip and poor control for the 3rd which is unusual for him, as he genuinely does have good feet he's a pretty poor shot stopper. Picking him, even in sympathy would just be a poor decision especially after the first leg.
