I think I'd have to agree with Tommy that a league cup and top 10 would be a half decent season. Cant see us getting top 4/5 next season no matter who comes in.
because a new manager deserves time for a proper pre season, especially if we are gunning for CL the following season.…and? Why is that relevant? Why does something happening literally once mean we should make a decision to fire the bloke who just won a European trophy?

i would be happy if we are a shoo-in for top four every season. cups are bonus - winning the EPL and CL is the goal. And we've come close on both fronts recently.League cup won't do. It would be great don't get me wrong. But the money from cl is so huge we can't be losing £100m and letting villa/Saudi Sportswashing Machine/villa get an extra £100m. That's a £200m swing in revenue. With those clubs willing to spend every penny of it.
I don't wan't to go back to the 90's being a mid table club. Winning a league cup. I want us to be challenging on every front. I want us to dominate.
Would you have settled for that under pochettino?
His time was looked at as that team and redknapps should have won a trophy aswell as getting cl football.
Now we'd settle for mid table and a trophy? If we don't win the trophy what then?
No sorry. I want us to be the best team in the world. Bring in the qataris. Bring in ancelotti. Bring in world class players. Bring in true glory years.
So far the main names linked are Iraola, Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Francesco Farioli (Ajax).
I think I’d rather take a chance on given the manager who just won us a European cup a chance to build.
Settle is your word, not mine. I see what I outlined as good progression on the journey to hopefully winning the league one day — even if I’m not sure we ever will.
Ten Haag situation? The situation where they've gone lower in the league and won diddly squat since he won them the FA Cup against Emirates Marketing Project. Pretty obvious Ten Hag wasnt/isn't the problem at that club....People will complain for sure. By that point many will point to this season and say look at what he has done and then the usual there are no decent options during mid-season...
I still can't see, over what happened so far, how he could achieve what you said in the first paragraph. The level of opposition was poor this year in the UEFA cup. We have made a massive, massive achievement but haven't played at a very high standard so to me, that means very little in terms of our chances of success next season. That being said, I agree it's a poor timing to make that bold decision, although IMO that's what should be done. So fully expect to see the Ten Haag situation next season. But then, stranger things have happened, so again I am happy to be proven wrong again.

No what I meant is following the disaster of this season, I would settle for League cup and top 10 next season as I feel it's too much ground to make up to get 4/5/6 next season.
That's just me trying to be realistic but I do agree with the rest of your views

That IMHO is a good level to be aiming at for next season if the football improves.
I've seen some levels of expectations that I think are only setting us up to fail.
Top four and CL qf. That's before a ball is kicked or we know our transfer business.
We can achieve those, but they should not be seen as minimum requirements.
yeah i respect your preference. i just don't think its sensible to continue with a coach that has 2 years of very poor records and worse football to watch.
also, now that we have champions league, i believe that number of candidates would have increased quite a bit, along with our transfer budget
We won a cup, which, when we started, we were one of the favourites to win. This is the easiest of cups to win when the opposition is taken into account. The Champions League is at a completely different level and is comprised of teams that are on par with the Premiership top five and better. The current team under Ange is miles away from that level, as he has demonstrated in our league form.
I'm fed up with his 'Angeball' of panic defending, tippy tappy around both boxes a lack of shooting or the confidence to shoot (when was the last time Solanki had a shot from outside the box?), pressing from the front and leaving huge gaping holes behind, fullbacks stranded up field, Son and Solanki being sooo sloooow, they're well past it and so on.
Yes, amazing we won a cup, but this has been the most depressing season of watching my team I can remember. I don't want any more of it.
Daniel, please get rid.
We've fininished outside the top 5, 4 times in the last 15 years.
Now fans are saying 10th would be progress?
Seriously?
