You're getting confused. He said did you enjoy the game, not the outcome.

I went to plenty of games when we had Mourinho and Conte where the result was much better than the entertainment value. It's the perennial problem for me, I want us to win but win with style and a positive attitude. Grinding out result ever week is not for me, it's ironic that the people calling for a pragmatic approach often are critical of Woolwich and Forest.

Ah OK that clears it up nicely. Hypocrite as I thought

:tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:...please, enough of this nonsense. LEARN how to use language PROPERLY...

Here. In the example you're trying to 'straw man' what you're attempting to assert is literally ridiculous. You're saying that I cannot utterly enjoy a pragmatic and defensive performance which led is to a trophy because I despise Jose Mourinho? Laughable.

This is a football forum not a poets forum, I think you forget that sometimes. You're more worried about coming across as intellectual that's why I can't take you or your posts seriously.

You ever thought of writing a book?

I mean did you enjoy the game? It was pretty torturous to watch. I thought we were playing with fire 2nd half too. Reminded me of watching Gareth Southgate England sitting back on a 1-0 against poor teams....

It was a genuinely shocking game, terrible. Would never want to watch the full 90 mins again. But that was the beauty! Spurs got the goal, then made the game go that way. I very much enjoyed the desperation and fight in our play. I absolutely prefer wave after wave of attack, but there's a time and place.

Bags of experience of being around a winning side too. Potentially great for the young lads.

Arsenal fan in work yesterday morning’s first words were, “That was the worst final I’ve ever seen,” to which I replied, “I honestly couldn’t give a s hit, nor could our trophy cabinet.”

I got that from a gooner last night, I replied, what worse than the EL final when Chelsea spanked you 4-1?

It's perspective isn't it.
Brendan has a bad record in Europe with every club he's been at, along with Celtic two worst results in Europe.
He went into a winning team at Celtic and had I think three, maybe four seasons there.
He did have a good run this year in fairness which may have boosted his PPG a tiny bit. Really don't like him so it's difficult to give credit 😬.
Celtic were a car crash when ange went there and he only had two seasons, he had to totally reset the team and I'm sure his early start in Europe wasn't ideal.
Ange only had two seasons, so yeah small sample size.

It's tough, I'm a glaswegian but I have no loyalty to either of the OF or Scottish football, but the football system up here is totally broken and almost all of it is the fault of the club's.
Rangers for instance have a very decent record in the EL but can't beat at Johnstone in the SPL.
That's cup football for you.

I think what's happen in Scots football is tragic, I grew up in a time when most 1st division clubs had very good or great Scots in them, now it's hard to recognise anyone in the national side for people living in England.

I've been a professional writer for over 40 years and have written a couple already thanks.
It is a football forum, but words are important. Knowing how to use them -or at least to make an effort to employ them using things such as context- helps discussions have a point.
Your assumptions remain your business and are nothing to do with me.

Got any links to them? I'm intrigued what they're about

It's money, pure and simple.
It's why I laugh at the "EL is lower championship teams".
Teams like feynord, frankfurt, sevilla and loads of others have pedigrees that would put most English clubs to shame, the big difference is the huge money TV pumps into English football.
Give that money to them or the OF and see what happens.

This is the thing with Goons fans and football fans in general and the 'banter' - it is just full of hypocrisy and no matter what you do or don't achieve people can always put a negative spin on it.

Under Poch we were finishing above the Goons in the table and they would claim they they still had a better season because they had won an FA Cup or whatever. Now all of a sudden coming second in the league and winning nothing is a better achievement, funny - when we came second in the league it was us being bottle jobs despite not being the biggest spenders over the last few years like they have been.

As hard as it is, just have to ignore others trying to ruin the enjoyment that we get from our team - even harder when you have a select few on here trying to do the same.....

Yes indeed. I'll admit, I am finding it tough.

I fudging LOVED it.
You know why?
Because despite missing our three most creative players, we did what many thought we couldn't do and found a way to win. And we won. A major trophy.
Well i did love it when the final whistle blew but not going to lie all these attempts to erase 18 months of utter sh*t because of it and pretend there aren't serious cracks under the new wall paper are taking the shine off it already for me. Told myself I wasn't going to trigger myself by looking in this thread for a good few weeks, yet here i am, like Al Pacino in Godfather III....

In fairness you're not the only person engaging in behaviors such as this which are doubtless unhelpful LOL...I'll tag myself as 'guilty' too!!!

I was staunch Ange out, but the fact we won such a scrappy final had made me lean towards keeping him.

Let’s see if he can win the Super Cup (would be in our history books forever). Hopefully he can then improve in the league without crazy injuries.

(Then get Poch after the WC…lol)

U
I think he gets the start of the season regardless of what any of us think, so I am not going to waste too much on it and TBH I wanna enjoy the cup. If he gets the start and is crap again they can get rid ALA Ramos and no one blinks. Get rid of him now we just replace a massive monkey on our backs with another IMO.

Anyway will leave that to others to debate now............I am off out for a treat day of a whacking great full english and a belly full of grog
Sacking him mid season is worse for us long term than sacking him in the summer. There are fewer options available and we might have unsuited or unwanted signings.

If we don't fire him in the summer then we need to commit to him getting the whole season again, pretty much no matter the results because it's otherwise going to be another wasted season. With a other new man having to get to grips with the existing squad without the possibility of reinforcements.
