Nah, you said "guaranteed 25-30 goals" and then built a narrative around him always getting that if he didn't have injuries. I simply stated that he only got it twice in 6 years because of injuries and that is a reason why it is not guaranteed. It's a reality of being a footballer, especially in a tough PL environment when you're in your thirties. I'm not writing Kane off. I'm just grounding the conversation back to reality. Taking 25-30 goals to the bank is incorrect and in my mind not even fair to a player like Solanke.

This was the focused and original conversation. The other topics on Kane are simply tangential to the point I was making.
"Guaranteed goals" is a loose term. Nothing in sport is guaranteed. Kane was a generational talent for us and a huge loss.

What i would say is that in his later years with us (and for England) he was noticeably less mobile and less involved in the press and this did start to harm us, particularly in our attacking play.

Nuno's early performances were promising with a mobile front 3 of Son, Lucas and Bergwijn. They moved around a lot and made not only Nuno's "defence first" system vaguely watchable in those early fixtures but caused teams problems on the break so they didn't commit too many forward to press our low block.

It just never looked right once Kane came back in. Whether that was partly down to Kane's mood following the failed transfer to City which spread through the camp or other factors, Kane's return to the team just kind of seemed to spark a doom spiral that led to the quick sacking of Nuno and installation of Conte....

Or, you know, you could support the club you claim to.
You know you can still support the club and have opinions about it on a benign forum up for discussion.

Perhaps start a rose tinted thread “ Spurs are just the best” … then you can have a one way discussion where we all simply flagellate over everything spurs, no matter what the result or direction of the club.

I think the longer it takes the more likely it is that he goes. Club wanting a replacement more or less fully lined up before making an announcement. Avoid a repeat of the post Conte, Stellini, Mason situation.
Or they've already made the decision to keep him on and don't feel the need to make an announcement: "oh FYI everyone, we aren't going to sack our head coach"...

Whilst the club won't be making an official announcement if he is staying, there will definitely be news fed through to some of the major journos that he is being kept on for the start of the season....

At the time a definite decision has been made several people within the club would know, Ange and the coaches would know, their agents would know, clubs that would be interested in signing Ange would more or less know. Wouldn't be a "secret" for long imo.

And for sure the club would want to create clarity on this rather than see extended speculation.

They have to be sounding out potential candidates at this stage (although surely they have been doing that for months?), otherwise there would have been leaks fed to firm up his psition.

It all suggests that even if he stays it's because there don't seem to be more convincing options available at this stage.

I don’t think there are any other convincing options at the moment, Frank, Silva, Iraola.. nah stick with Ange.

Eddie Howe would not have looked out of place on that list while/after he was Bournemouth - i wonder would you consider him a good appointment now that he has done a reasonable/good job at Saudi Sportswashing Machine? Not that we'd have a chance of taking him now.

Personally, I think given the competitive nature of the PL any manager that proves himself at middling club would be as good a bet as any other to make a good go of things at a bigger club in the league.

Always liked Howe, I’d have happily had him at Spurs during the end of Jose and into the Nuno period.

Don’t dislike the names suggested they’ve done very good jobs at their current clubs, just don’t think you sack the manager for them. I wouldn’t anyway.

Ofcourse there are 55% of people who want Ange out so no doubt most of this board disagree and would think most other options are better. That’s fine each to their own opinion.

I'm with you. Frank undoubtedly has done a good job at Brentford, I'm not sure some of our fans appreciate just how difficult it can be to manage our club from the chairman to fan expectations. I would say Nuno was someone that had done a decent job at Wolves all in all and look what happened.

I wouldn't want to bin off Ange for Frank, just not convinced he is going to better what Ange has achieved (5th place finish and EL trophy) and goes without saying I don't think Ange will have us anywhere near where we finished this season. Glasner I wouldn't mind having a look at but he is unlikely to be available, so unless there is a rabbit out of the hat somewhere I don't mind seeing how it fares this season.....

Why dont you think Ange will have us anywhere near where we finished this season? Based on what?

Every quarter of both seasons he's been here has seen a decline in PPG compared to the previous quarter. That's regardless of who has been fit and available, or any other factor. It's a clear consistent trend that shows no sign of arresting other than via a view of pure faith that Ange will find a formula that balances his high intensity approach with a reduced injury risk and the dual demands of PL and Champions League fixtures.

I posted on here prior to this season's injury crisis that we were heading for our lowest points total in over a quarter of a century and that people could come back to me at the end of the season if I was wrong. The metrics are all there if you care to open your eyes to them, im sorry.

Well done on pivoting to all out attack on the Europa League having scraped into the later stages in a desperate attempt to save your job, abandoning everything you believe in footballing-wise. It DID bring us success unprecedented in my own memory.

However, there is literally zero evidence of sustainability of that platform and every evidence of the club staring at the abyss of a dogfight next season with the added demands of CL and a likely much better fist of PL survival made by the 3 promoted clubs.....

I'm not going to litter this thread with the same old debate that's been done to death. My eyes are perfectly open and just have a different opinion to you :)....

My word.
How many times have you written this post recently?
I respectfully disagreed with you the first dozen or so times, but at this point? Come on...we get it.
Is there anything new you can add to your opinion?

Telling people to 'open their eyes'...come on!
