I cannot take anyone who tries to analyse the Brighton game seriously. It meant NOTHING! Literally nothing — even if we won, we would have still finished 17th — other than one last chance to celebrate winning a trophy.
Right, so how about the 57000 Spurs supporters who spent £50+ on tickets? The people who have travelled from far flung parts of the UK, and even countries such as Korea, do you not think the celebrations should not have taken place until after the season had ended, like Liverpool or Palace? Every game counts, they exist because of the supporters !

Mixture of reasons..

NUmber of injuries at the same time this season that hopefully doesn't happen again.

Very good young players that are only going to get better with age.

The fact we've shown that we cam do it when at full strength. I'm not only thinking of Europa but results like 4-1 at home vs Villa. 4-0 sway at City etc

And now with the extra money and incentive of CL we can build a stronger squad to cope with injuries and fight stronger in all competitions instead of having to prioritise one.
Don't hold your breath. We will almost certainly spend carefully and late. We presently have a pretty decent squad, unfortunately we have a very poor manager

I sat next to a woman who flies over from Florida to watch us. Flights, accomodation and she sits in hospitality. There was another couple on their honeymoon, first time in England, the guy had convinced his wife to go watch Spurs as part of thier trip. Certainly meant something to them.

Why dont you see it happening again? I keep saying it but we got 5th because Ange went his first 10 games unbeaten, posting 8 wins and 24 points. That's over 36% of our season points total in just over 26% of the season's games. Since that fast stat we've seen a steady decline in PPG, that's continued into and through this season. We look very easy for Premier League teams to play against. That's a key thing for me, we consistently look naive and wide open and its got to the point where we are regularly facing over 15 attempts on our goal in a game. We do not look a Premier League quality team.
The players are poorly coached, poorly organised, and lack motivation. The EL success is papering over very large cracks, and it absolutely amazes me anyone can possibly think Ange is a good manager. Correction, Ange thinks Ange is a good manager

Unprecedented - "never done or known before".

Not sure why our manager keeps using this word.

Walking on the moon was unprecedented. Winning a EL cup definitely isn't. It happens every year.

Just saying.

Because self PR is all he's got - it's his one quality. The Wizard of Oz indeed!

Every game means something or at least it should.

People me included paid to go see it. In what job particularly a well paid job can you down tools like that, it was disgusting.
This. I’d booked it weeks ago and had arranged to meet up with a mate. I missed something quite important at home that came up at short notice to go yesterday as I’d already paid and didn’t want to abandon my mate.

I was very, very disappointed with the performance. It’s not how top clubs behave IMO. I couldn’t even stomach staying at the end. Of course it’s not the most important match in the world but every time we go out on that pitch we should be making a serious effort to win and we should be trying to win regardless of the importance of the game.

On Ange, I’m absolutely torn. I’ve little faith in him yet I could understand Levy giving him more time. Feel a bit of dread about the whole situation to be honest.

The beginning of next season. That would be silly really Ange in or out.

We will write off a season sacking him part way through. We will get the old can’t get our managerial target stuff.

So back him big in the summer with some better players or change it up now.

He needs to show that this poor league forum was part of his plan. I don't see why we would give him longer if we continue to lose games next season.

It's also up to Ange to show what he can do now/next season..

.
I think this obsession with league posotion is a very modern phenomena. Let's face it we have never really been a league team having only twice been league champions before.

Maybe it's because growing up as a Spurs fan cups were our only hope of success but I've always preferred cup football. I don't ever get aa excited for a league march as I do a Cup Semi or Final for example.

Our glory glory tag is built on cup success. An inconsistent club that are capable of the spectacular and beating anyone on their day.

In 84 when we won the very strong UEFA Cup we only finished 8th in the 1st division. When we last won the FA Cup in 91 we finished 10th. League positions that bow would be considered a failure but did anyone care?

When we watch the highlight reels of our glorious history it's these finals we see. Not the seasons we were consistent in the league, finished top 4 but ultimately won nothing.

Of course 17th is unacceptable but I really don't see that happening again. We finished 5th in Anges first season don't forget which us why we was in a position to win the Europa in the first place. That's 5th in his first season having just lost one of our greatest players of all time.

I read this earlier and had to digest the league vs cup dynamic.

For me, it's about how you get your fix. Take the example that you're at home on a Sunday afternoon and Spurs are the live game. You know that winning will give you a lift, and losing will have the opposite effect. You want to sit down with your Sunday roast, be entertained and win. Worst case is that you know the team have been setup well, but lost on the day to the better team. Losing is part of the game, but at the size of club we are there should be way more good days than bad.

Then you take midweek evenings when those UEFA or league cup games mostly appear, at least before Xmas. Those cup games have a different flavour to them. So does the FA cup weekend games in the new year and the knockout phases. More and more dopamine when things go well.

I think it is fair to say that for the last 15 years we've been tuned in on having weekend and midweek football. We manage our fixes on 2 games a week and when the league side of the house sucks, it will have an impact on the fan mood. You can't just fix it with 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 etc great cup games. It doesn't balance against the amount of league fixtures in normal times. I'm noticing for some that the single trophy has though and mostly because of the 17 year gap rather than anything else. I'm waking up every day thinking about it, not to mention several times a day as I go about my daily business.

So therein lies the problem. Spurs can no longer exist as just a cup side. They can't even just exists as a side that won the EL in the 24/25 season. The demand for more just grows. I can also promise everyone that Levy won't settle for the single trophy either. His financial model wasn't built on one cup success. That's a given.

I'm less worried about this one. Better players are better players and it is very rare that they don't transcend to the next manager. You can even see that with the amount of pre-Ange players that were fundamental to the EL win under Ange.

Don't think better players are the priority. It's like people saying a #6 will change our fortunes. What is needed is better tactics and setup to get the best out of what we have and bring in.

I'd be more interested in backing him with better coaches.

Do you think he has got that though?

So many fans like me are seeing the contradiction and the constant change in narrative. The longer he stays, the harder it gets for Ange to keep the spin doctoring going. In the next phase, he needs to show some authenticity, even if he doesn't seem to do humility very well.

I can imagine a scenario where fans like me would have a slightly different perception of the man if we hadn't have watched so many pressers. The Brighton post match presser was another really poor one from Ange.

It's not really silly. IF we are going to let him continue it would be silly to do that without some hefty caveats. He isn't getting a big contract extension and long-term security let's put it that way. He's on a final written warning.

I absolutely think if he's to be kept on he needs a really experienced assistant that isn't afraid to challenge constructively.

I agree , was just more as a club you back him all in or bin him.

That read like we will see how first part of season goes . In my view that’s just silly as you derail your season instantly. If we start poorly. I think we will . It’s the way it’s been trending.

Oh well. Time will tell. I’d rather see him gone.

I’m not sure why people are expecting an announcement as to Ange in or Ange out.
If the club are happy to stay with Ange then I don’t expect any announcement as it’s BAU.
If he’s leaving then of course there will be an announcement.

Yeah, pre-season normally starts in first week of July. I think it's fair to say that if he's running it then he's continuing.
