Here's the thing - Trump is talking to his base, who believe everything he says. He's always done this - he did it during the campaign, especially the debates, when 'those in the know' said that Hillary had bested him. It doesn't matter what the truth is - with the help of Russia, gerrymandered voting districts, race-based voter suppression - he has a shot at tightening his grip on power. During the time when kids being separated from their parents at the border an being put in cages, many of his supporters said the footage they were seeing was fake. And just the other day he told people (at a rally) not to believe what they saw and what they read.
Fortunately his base doesn't make up the majority.
Unfortunately that other lot have a hard time getting people to come out and vote.
They have a lot of momentum at the moment, but the mid-terms are still weeks away.

Amazing that 40 % still approve.
They approve of all Republican presidents regardless of who they are because Democrats are communists who loves immigrants, crime and high taxes. The Republicans have done a remarkable job brainwashing the American people over the years.
