Luka Vuskovic

Yes. Because CBs playing any normal way dont tend to get fatigued or injured. Remember how little Foyth used to play behind Verts, Alder and Sanchez.

As well as the obvious 4 (excluding Dragu for now) we also at the moment still have all of Davies, Philips, Dorrington, Gray and Spence, any of whom could be 5th choice.
Yeah but do you rate them? Dragusin has not looked mobile enough (Ange ball or not) and Davies for all the fan attachment is looking like he's past it. Danso I need to see more of, so the only ones I'm sure about are VDV and Romero and I'm pretty sure Cuti will look to leave this summer now Ange has gone.

Romero can look all he wants to leave. I want him to stay, want him to be our captain and our highest paid player. But unless a club offers us £80m+ then Romero will be here at the start of next season.

And then Romero says okay, I will honour my contract and leave in 2 years on a free.

Doesnt matter. You shouldnt need to use your 4th choice CB unless against crap CL group opponents or in domestic cups.

Im fairly confident Romero will extend his contract if the new coach is competent (and we repair the recent damage done to the medical staff)

Inguess we will see. I suspect Ange going might actually have the opposite effect but who knows.

Just made his international debut

I mean we started both seasons under Ange without enough central defenders.
Obviously that situation wasn't helped with injuries.
Since Ange arrived we have bought 3 'senior' CHs and 2 youngsters.

So Frank will see the benefit of that, and with no further additions would probably be quite happy kicking off with just those already here.

(The caveat being, if Romero goes)

Second season by choice. First season it's fair to say he wouldn't have known the injury status of the players. In season 2 we had already sold Sanchez in January so we knew what we were getting ourselves into.

Managers choice or board though? No agenda, I really don't know.

CB is just one of the difficult jigsaws this summer.

Uncertainty about Romero, if he leaves we imo need a top level replacement - which will probably be difficult.

Uncertainty about Dragusin's timeline for returning from injuries.

Uncertainty about how the existing players will fit the new manager.

If we lose Romero we would still have VDV, Danso, Dragusin, Davies and then youngsters we could use in Vuskovic, Phillips and Dorrington.

But we have been linked with Branthwaite

I think latest guess was a December return for Radu.

Not ideal for Frank or Radu given its a new set-up with new ideas coming in and getting up to speed with that.

I think he did it in January....so perhaps July-August is 7-8 months into recovery, so is likely to be out on the grass with the main squad involved in some of the work.

Injuries happen. One thing Dragusin cannot be accused of is lacking in self-confidence...and he's also shown plenty of willingness to work hard in training, so I'm sure he'll recover as quickly as possible. It'll be like having a new signing in the January window....probably just in time for VdV to do a hamstring again.

I could see Luka in the 6 role. He has all the attributes. Similar role to Dier under Poch. Question is whether he's ready for the PL in such a key position. Might need a year bedding in or might take like a duck to water a la Bergvall. Either way, he's an exceptional talent and a very astute buy.

He’s a CB.
Any decent CB and you guys always try to make them DM.
It’s a massively different position.
Maybe Vuskovic can play in goals, or emergency striker?!
