OMT ***Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United***

Don't you remember us loosing 0-3 at OT several years ago? It was much worse

And here we are several years later, with what is supposedly our best team in years, and we’re still losing there.

This week has been a reality check for me. We are not as good as some of us thought - Poch still has a lot of work to do, particularly on our mentality. I’m sure he’s up to it, so that’s the big positive.

We deserved a point from that.
And after defending so well first half - and Dier having a very good game - it’s annoying as hell to give away a goal through falling asleep defensively.
Dele will be rueing his missed chance. But then we too had a lucky escape a few minutes later when they hit the post.
It was always going to be a tight game and taking 3 points flatters Utd really, looking at the game overall.
Far from ideal but we’re still in the race.

Big chance for Alli. I think his reaction showed he thought he should have scored.

Fell asleep for the goal. We need to be more alert.
this time last year - across the entire first 10 games - i was giving eriksen hell on here
maybe this year is alli's turn for a slow start...but he has to turn up more consistently from game 11 onwards. he's been underperforming severely so far. big dissappointment and i wonder if he needs to get his head/heart sorted.

also i wish to see a full squad on both sides when we meet at wembley. pogba, zlatan for them, lamela, wanyama, rose and kane and a bright sunny day to put them in their place. (we will be better off on goal difference !)

Even though United deserved to win, they didn't win because they were outstanding or showed title challenging qualities, in my opinion - they won because we were weak on the day and didn't look up to it - we were a shadow of ourselves. Sad display from us in that second half.

I thought we were going to concede *four* times in the second half. That ball across that Davies somehow smuggled from the toes of the onrushing United player. Valencia's shot through Dembele's legs that curved past the far post after that corner. Lukaku's run through, before he was forced wide (after which the chance subsided) and shot across Lloris. And the Martial goal, which was coming the moment Dier switched off.

Those were chances that we could not match. The best we could get was the Alli chance, which literally only allowed for one touch at full stretch - hardly a guaranteed goal.

The chances you talk about though didn’t test Lloris did they?

I always judge on how hard the keeper has to work and they didn’t work Hugo much at all after the first 10

Well what a snoozefest that was.

Mourinho will be happy.....beat the rubbish teams 4 nil and don't lose against top 4 rivals.

Edit: Also Lukaku's header that hit the post. Five chances, to our one half-chance.

Lukaku hitting the post with a header?

in these tight games, its the fine lines that makes a difference indeed - i always believe that

we are at a level now where we are one of the big guns - we don't concede often, or much, and we can beat anyone

very, very tight game

We very rarely win these big tight games though

Alli makes proper contact and it's a goal 99 times out of 100, Uniteds were all half chances that would have taken poor goal keeping or amazing finishes to score from. (Asides from the goal which was gifted to them)

Lukaku's chance was brilliantly saved by Lloris, Lloris spilled that cross from Mktiaryan or whoever it was, and well, didn't catch the goal. So yeah, they tested him well at least three times. :p

It's obviously not the end of the world losing at Old Trafford, but we could've nicked a point or even a win with a bit more of an effort, I thought. United weren't that good. We just let them play too many times.

That's not the best way to judge chances. If you have twenty shots on target from outside the box but all of them were saved, versus an opponent who had four shots on target that all went in, from the center of the box, with no one around the strikers...who had the better chances?
