Davinson Sanchez

So good you had to post it twice and who can blame you ... you are a staff member after all ... death to administration!
 
Like Serge Aurier he will need time to find his feet in the English game, he is used to a much slower pace game then we play here and will ( probably) need time to adjust to it. But he has shown that he is a good player and i am sure he will show it over the season.

As someone posted earlier he is in the company of two of the best CB's in the game ( Toby and Jan) and this works both ways for him(1) he has top players around him who can help him settle but (2) he will be judged by some in comparison to how they play in any given game.
 
It's always easier to perform when you have top players around you that lead by example.

No doubt a player of his repertoire will be up for challenging our star studded defence as the best defender in the team.

Sanchez and Aurier have done soo well fitting into this machine. Others have used foregoing pre-season with poch as an excuse for not performing.

I I can't dance with them players not having tested myself like that. But i guess it shows the predigree of these two players.

Did we have to invest this much money on the best defence in league? The answer is that we brought in players that can give us options and an edge to play multiple formations, systems, and styles.
 
Fenwick, Calderwood, Scott, Vega, Nethercott, Scales, Gardner...in my lifetime i've seen some proper dross at CB!!
So these past couple of seasons have been a pleasure to watch. I certainly never thought i'd see the day where statistically we had the tightest defence in the league!

Adding Sanchez to our immense Belgian pairing can surely only improve things.

Indeed, going back to the days of Norman ( who was a very good CB) i think CB is the position we have had more dross then any other position.
 
he was getting frustrated late on, gave up a few fouls pulling jerseys, allowing their players to back into him, bit of naivety against some good gamesmanship from experienced swansea players, that comes down to experience though. Good link up with midfield play during the game.

As it stands I would be worried about him against better forwards.

But he is young and very early in his spurs Career.

Poch has lots of work ahead there.........
Early days though, I was a little surprised at some of his decision making!
I'm wondering who is picking our transfer targets, he wasn't from the bargain shelf this one!.

I'm no expert but maybe he needs more than a full game and a few minuets to settle in.
 
Heading seems to be his biggest weakness. I was talking to my season ticket neighbour, and talking about Sanchez's heading. Sure enough, moments later, Sanchez could have won a header but just ignored the ball. It wasn't just to let it run out of play etc, it seemed more as to avoid the header.
I think he's trusted by Alderweireld, and Vertonghen, otherwise he wouldn't have been left as the last man whilst those two pushed on.

At what point did he look shaky? Vs a team that didn't muster a single shot at goal he looked shaky? Must be because he had forgotten to take Aubameyang out of his pocket and felt a little heavy.

You could say that about any defence that is well-structured though? How much 'protection' has John Terry had over the years?
How much 'protection' does Jose gives to his defenders, let alone Simeone, Conte etc

Yep but those guys don't play the way that we do.

Listen I hope I'm wrong and I am 100% not saying he won't make it big with us. But at the moment he gets too close, he seems rash and his strength and pace don't seem elite for the premiership where they were perhaps in the Dutch league.
