Danny Rose

unwilling even if Chelski offer lets say 70 mill???

I think it the offer was ridiculous we might be.

Especially as, being Chelsea and silly money, it would expose Rose's entire motivation as greed and no more.

All that about wanting to go up north, be nearer home etc would be shown up as the BS it is.

We and he would get lots of £££ to prove thats what it was all about.

And then we would replace him, strengthen the team even more, and finish above them just to drive the point home ;)

I doubt we would just on principle, since Arnesen the relationship has been particularly sour.

That said, if we did sell him I think it would be in that sort of circumstance - showing him/them up.

IMO he will move next summer, not this. Like you mention Modric, Levy wont bow to pressure, it sets a troublesome precendent.

£50m was the quoted figure which would certainly make me think about it.

Question I suppose it a) what message that sends out to the remaining squad and b) making us look like a selling club again

Rose for me is a £70m player now if we sell to a rival as a minimum

Look at the money being paid out for Coutinho who despite being a different positionnia nowhere near as consistent or proven

Based on his ability and status as arguably the best LB/LWB in the PL, the length of his contract, then the chavs factor, then Yeh, 70M is a starting point. Add another 10M to that if Rose struggles with a compass for being a greedy brick house liar or simply stupid.

30M arf artf arf that wont even get Levy on the phone, don't these jounos do any research ? ...I know the answer

I understand fully that players will want to progress and earn more what I don't accept is players that signed a year previously expecting more money because the clubs incomes increased. His agent works in the game, his only job is to know the market and the fact he did not account for extra club revenue from the new TV deal when negotiating the players contract is that the clubs fault or his?

I take the point that he shouldn't have signed the contract if he wasn't happy, then again he may have been happy at the time but feels he deserves a pay rise now. The timing is terrible as I originally stated but like I said before, I agree with almost every other sentiment he expressed with the exception of the google comment, thought that was unnecessary.

My point is what makes him feel he needs a pay rise? Champions League? They all had bonuses for that. Number of games played? He would not have hit that mark. Extra TV money? Like I said he would have known that money was coming a year into his deal so should have held out a year ago for more.

I disagree with him because our process has taken us to 2nd in the league twice in two years so there is more evidence to back the claim its working that Rose and his claim.

The google comment is key because its reflective of the way we do things, people he looks at as class that the club has done business for, players that are succeeding could have all been put in the "who are they" class, but it works so regardless of his intent in using the term Google, he was wrong

I really hope we tell them to fudge off and don't come back. No amount of money is worth them getting one over us again. I honestly don't think Levy will even entertain an offer from Chelsea.

As for Rose being shown up for his comments re wanting to play up north, I really don't think we should care about that. It doesn't help us in the slightest if we sell him and lose another key player in the same window just so we can say "look he only went for money and clearly isn't too concerned about what region he plays in".

I suspect that this will blow over in a couple of weeks and he will settle down, regain his place in the side and he will be gone next summer. It would be a big mistake to sell both FB's in one window. It would leave us with just over a fortnight to find a replacement, given how long we can take to sign players it doesn't give us a great deal of time.

And I'm not sold on Luke Shaw as his replacement, I'm sure Poch could do a good job with him but he must be all over the place mentally after Mourinho has done his best to emasculate him.

Think we should agree to disagree

The google comment read to me as bitchy and even a swipe at his team mates. I suspect it was more a case of foot-in-mouth and what he really meant was that he would like to see recognised next-level quality coming in. As many have said, a bit like when VDV signed.

I do understand the idea that he see's Alonso, Clichy, Blind etc playing his position and getting twice as much money - without being twice the player. I get that, and I do get the "I deserve that too" point of view.

I just think its ridiculous of him to come out and say it knowing that he willingly signed a contract just a short while back, and knowing he knows damn well what sort of club we are (having been here 10-11 years!).

We can not, and will not, come close to competing like that on wages. It just wont happen. So, to me, the only thing to be achieved by his outburst is to try and manouvre his way out of the club. Which, to me, would only really happen if he had assurances of interest from a club and how much they would offer ***cough*UTD*cough***

Conspiracy, for sure, but its all that can make sense of the situation to me.

And that certainly doesnt reflect well on Rose.

I would hate to do a deal with Chelsea. I wasnt entirely serious, being flippant really.

Though I do think it would serve us well to show him up at some point. He lead a very negative narrative against the club, a disingenuous one at that. It is obvious its money and no more. It would be good for the club to somehow refute that.

Selling him to a London team for a kings ransom would be one way of doing it, though as I said - tongue in cheek really.

It will blow over once he doesnt move, and all will be well - and Ive said already - I also think he will go next summer.

I dont think this will be forgotten, I dont think he will actually not want a big move like he does now either. There is no way Levy will let him decide when he goes though, it will be on our terms and our terms alone.

Shaw? I think of what he was at SCBC and I think Poch could work wonders. I think of what he is at Utd, and I wonder if he could ever even get back to that. Mourinho has really done a number on him (disgusting really) and injury has potentially taken its toll. Over all Id be wary of Shaw.

Especially when we get linked with talent like Sessegnon who I would love us to buy.

He signed in Dec, got injured in Jan, and hasnt played since.

What has he done to deserve a pay rise?

Nothing ( imo) he has missed 60 Premership games over the last 4 seasons ( mostly through injury) and as you say not played since Jan. He is greedy sod who opened his big gob to the gutter press and in doing so showed what a thick head he is. Very good player he may be but i will not shed a tear if he never plays for us again, its one thing being unhappy about things but if he is then the right thing to do is go and see Levy and if he does not get the result he wanted then ask for a transfer. If he had done that he would have got far less stick then he is doing
