Danny Rose

So Danny Rose speculating about why a Spurs player would want to leave, referencing being a nearly club. And that it's important to win things soon. Weird that, thought trophies wasn't that important....

I will just repeat that rarely did our first choice wing-backs play in the same side last season. I will add, too, that Danny Rose should not be saying anything right now. I will also add that he and Walker share the same agent. And I will conclude by saying that hopefully people can clearly see by now what Walker's intent is (and has been for a while - in his case there are personal factors...frankly I think that Rose should remember who his employers are. Words like 'nearly club' are terrible. STFU fool!

Slightly bizarre interview with Danny Rose that. I would imagine he was given prior clearance by the club to go on the show without having a fully cleared itinerary of discussion. Can't say that I disagree with him regarding the marquee signing but it really isn't something he should be stating in a massively public forum as if he can have influence in providing it and his comments regarding the squad depth were a bit messy too.

As for a player (we all know who he means) wishing to leave, he really should not have commented at all or tried to steer the conversation somewhere else because his response with nearly club is a bit stupid really when you consider you are part of that team that nearly achieved something. As for a player that he feels he has given Spurs enough and wants a change, that's fine but it is a two way street. If the club don't feel quite the same then that is when they ask for more money than they would do to compensate.....if they don't get it then you have to accept you are staying, you signed the contract and were happy to at that point in time.

Ill advised from Danny Rose and slightly naive.

Sorry Lads/Lasses have you just watched the same clips (above) as me !?!?!?????

Thought D. Rose came across really well and indicated what high regard he holds Spurs/Potchettino in. Also agree with his summary of what we need "going forward" (hate that phrase).

Gone up in my estimation.

Its all about the money d'ont you know (allegedly) ;)

I think you are both being naive if you think either Danny Rose or Kyle Walker will stay at the club if we win the FA Cup or League cup or even both next season. Money is the important factor here and the difference between what City can offer compared to us. I suspect they want the marquee trophies too i.e. the Pl and champions league.

Indeed I thought he came across well for someone who generally doesn't do media. The lad doesn't even have a twitter account. Its obvious he only agreed to do it because he knows Jenas.

The whole thing is up here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0543skq

If you didn't see that then that's fine. I don't think what he said is particularly helpful to us as a club when it reinforces the line the media keep coming out with regarding it being hard for us to keep our players. When your own players start making those noises in a public manner it is undermining the club imo.

If you don't think that interview does that then that's all good, he came across great.......well done Danny for doing an interview when he really doesn't to.

First time I've heard anything from him. Tbf I was expecting the whole gangsta type spiel and he was nothing like that. Measured and articulate.

No one said money isn't a factor. But every top player wants to win trophies, and coming league runners up doesn't change that. They're more likely to stay if they see we are being successful and we are winning trophies it's as simple as that. Personally I think it needs to start this season. For the last three years now we've been talking about having the youngest squad, we need to start delivering now or certain players will leave....

The players will leave anyway. I have said it before Leicester won the title but still lost ngolo Kante. I think you are transposing your own desire as a fan onto the players. Kyle Walker will not stay because we win a minor trophy. He
will stay if we pay him what he thinks he is worth. Given the money you get from Champions League qualification it sadly reinforces the notion that we must at least qualify for it every year.

Kante left for a club that was going to win trophies and consistently compete for them, it was obvious that was never going to happen at Leicester. Again, the money helps yes. Sorry but you can't just decide what players want, you have no idea. We have a much better chance of keeping Dele and others if we are winning things. They are handsomely paid whenever they go. The clubs that pay the most tend to be the ones that win the trophies on a consistent basis, so you can't say that they are going to these clubs just because they will be paid more money, it's actually an insult to these players and their ambitions. Unless you know Kyle Walker et al personally of course....

Agree that the "nearly" comment was a bad choice of words. It made me wince hearing him say that. However I think the gist of what he said would have been sanctioned by the club.

Maybe it could be seen as a message from the club to the fans (or even to Walker himself) to the effect that we've done all we can to persuade Walker to stay, success will come to this team, but if he has decided he wants out then we can't do any more to convince him otherwise.

Maybe it's call his bluff time.

Good interview otherwise (from the clips, haven't listened to the full thing yet).
