Wow i know Stop! Hammer time but i could not disagree more with yours.
 
I always think with Walker he can lull you in a bit, have 2 or 3 storming matches 8/10 and then in the next game he commits a total "brain fart" with a short back pass or something else that he just doesnt think about clearly.

Then again most of us have the odd "brain fart".

Tbf he has not had many of those this season. Has been sensational for the most part.
 
I don't think it's unfair to be highlighting his weaknesses as a player. We can look at any player objectively and make judgement's, there's no shame in looking at one of our own and doing the same.

He does that but how many of them actually cost us? From memory I can't think of one but I'm sure others will

Which is why Walker is perfect for them.... He has the pace and energy to attack but also get back if they turnover the ball.

what about their centre backs and the protection in front of the centre backs. Oh and their goalkeeper:)........they are defensively poor and the expensive signings of pacy full backs is not going to remedy their problems at the back.

i dont think it can be underestimated how much work Poch and the coaches put into the defensive side of the game. Our team is so well drilled in the art of defending. Emirates Marketing Project are not. There is a chance Walker will regress and not look so good under Guardiola.

The problem with that idea is sacrificing Walker will mean we downgrade the strength of our team on the pitch, Trippier has done well but he is not in the same class as Walker and KWP may not turn out as good as some think he may.

maybe Poch and the scouts have identified a possible replacement to bring in for a fraction of the sum we will get for Walker. im sure if Poch wants Walker to stay then he will stay, no matter how much Walker sulks...........if he goes it will be solely down to Poch agreeing to it and for that to happen he must have a plan in mind.

You may be right about replacement already being agreed on, my main point was that neither Trippier or KWP are up to replacing Walker and we would be weakening that posistion if that was the plan.

I'd take Trippier over an unsettled Walker.
It is impossible to say what Walker will be like if he does want out and is denied! Which I doubt he will be kept if the price is right......

Pace is very costly in today's market £40m + IMHO

you may be right about his attitude if he does not get the move( but i still think it could all be paper flimflam), but one thing for sure ( imo) replacing him with Tripper for the whole season would be a mistake. I have nothing against Tripper but he is not as good a player as Walker.

Yet. I think Poch could turn you into a finely honed marauding right wing back able to leap like a salmon, defend like Rumpole of the Bailey and cross like a Crucifx maker.
 
Am I alone in suspecting that - with Poch's help - Trippier could one day soon turn out to be an even better WB than KW? For sure he still has some considerable way to go to get anywhere near KW's defensive level but going forward he has already put in enough eyecatching performances to suggest the potential is there, and that is despite not getting regular game time.

When you reflect on the massive improvements since his arrival that Poch has extracted out of Walker and every other regular member of our first XI it's a safe bet he believes that over a sustained period he can work a similar kind of magic on Trippier both defensively and in attack.

Of course Trips is never going to match Walker for speed but as has been said before, there's more than one way to skin a cat. Walker has often had to rely on his raw pace to get back but how often is that because he knows he has it in his locker? Maybe Trips can be coached into better positional play to compensate for his relative lack of pace.

And although KW has improved considerably we still regularly see him use his pace to get forward then either hold up and pass backwards having run into a brick wall and out of other options.

Whilst Trippier might take a little longer to get forward he is brilliant - without the need to beat his man - at putting in an instant, well-placed cross or lofting an early ball over the defence to put the likes of Dele, Kane or Son clear through on goal.

I'm guessing Poch has already made this kind of calculation and is relishing the challenge of transforming KT into yet another top English international. Who knows, maybe he can even see the day in the not to distant future when Trippier ousts Walker from his England berth?

I for one would certainly not bet against it.
 
@Modric THFC We don't know how much time he allocates to each player within the squad, all things will never be equal.
Game time and training, week in, week out, will play a part.
We'll never know until it happens, if it happens, but I'm looking at Poch's record of drastically improving first team players wherever he goes, I can't say for squads as a rule, Dele, whilst talented. Wasn't imo, bought, with the intention of him being a guaranteed starter, pretty much from the off.
