Harry Winks

I posted this somewhere the other day, but we played Hull at home earlier in the season. 3 at the back (dier, toby, vert) but no Dembele in midfield.

We set up kinda like this:

--------------lloris
------dier----toby---vert
walker------wanyama-------rose
-------eriksen--sissoko---dele
--------------kane

We played well, won 3-0. I could see us with a similar lineup against weaker teams, if Dembele is out and no Winks to give direct cover.
Basically this is what we have to do if winks and moose aren't available.

Eriksen 'sat in' beside Wanyama that night, and i say 'sat in' as he definately had license to move forward. A bit like Winks has been doing. It was any easy game that night and was basically all us, so in similar matches it will be fine.

It was an early trying of the 3-4-3 that has become our best formation. It looks a bit more like 3-4-2-1 on the pitch and this actually suited Sissoko (and Alli) that night as he was a slightly narrower and more focused on marching forward.

I'd be quite happy to give GKN or Edwards a go in that position based on injuries and my lack of conviction in Sissoko.

If Sissoko could control a ball he'd be a footballer. If my aunt had balls...

I think its about getting into the groove. Of course he *can* control a football. He wouldn't have played for France etc if he didn't have it in him. He's no Messi but he can play better than he has for us so far.

I should hope that a 30m French international could play better too.

That injury list that Poch gave to the press conference wouldn't have had any real info from Winks's injury but it should have been fairly informative about the likes of Wanyama, Rose and Kane.

I base my opinions on evidence. Based on all he's done for us so far and a few bits of what I saw at Saudi Sportswashing Machine, I cannot reach your conclusion.

Doubt it's an achilles snap. The physio would know straight away if he had the chance to eyeball it.

Pochettino said in his presser it was a "twist". The physio didn't appear to be indicating the achilles, either, although it certainly did look as though he suspected there might be significant damage. Let's hope when they get the scan results and know the full extent of it there'll be some positive news.

If it's a twist then its ligaments. If he'd have broken anything then we'd likely already know. Even so, I'd imagine that he'll be out for 5-6 weeks so racing him back for the end of the season and then getting him match fit might be too much. We might be better off just giving him the time he needs to recover so he can start pre-season without any question marks around it.

Is that sort of thing visible or otherwise immediately discernable from a different sort of lower leg/ankle muscular injury?

Yes it is, I am somewhat of an expert on Achilles after the last year, I have had blood treatment injected into my calf and down to the Achilles to sort the problem, if you ever get any issues in this department PM me because my consultant was amazing(private). When an Achilles actually snaps you do hear it, mine was lucky to not be that bad, but even on a less scale it was very obvious with the inflammation what the issue was/is

*I have discussed it briefly in the health and fitness thread in random over the last year.

I think we all knew when he was stretchered off that that was him done for the season. What's the time scale for Ligament damage, back for start of pre season in July (3 full months)?

Depends on the extent but that's realistic with a fit footballer I'd say

I was just thinking the same thing. This would have been a great portion of the season for him to be involved with.

Yes it would have been, however he will have many seasons in front of him and i really think we have a real top player in the making here.

6 weeks if its the first time he's done it (like Kane earlier in the season)
3-4 weeks if he's done that one before (like Kane now)
