Kyle Walker

How many champions league games has he played? Seems he has been left out our last 2? Would not be happy if i were him.

By all accounts we have a great spirit running through the squad so hopefully Walker can see that Poch needs to give Trippier game time. Davies has been getting it by default through injuries.

I am delighted that Poch is giving him a break midweek. He will most likely play vs. Bayer in the home leg though.

Yes, there's been points where its seemed that Poch doesn't trust/rate Trippier. For me, Walker is definitely no 1 and Tripper definitely the stand-in, however Trippier is certainly good enough to deputise week-in, week-out were Walker to get a proper injury. I think our biggest challenge with Trippier will be to keep him happy

Was good to see him put in a few tasty crosses last night.

The lad wouldn't of done himself any harm with last nights display. Poch might lose him if he doesn't get more games.....same will then apply to Walker if he falls down the pecking order. Its why Poch get paid the big bucks.

I don't think Walker's crossing is bad for a full back by any means, but you do notice a massive difference when Trippier is playing in quality of delivery....

Trippier is still not up to it defensively. Kampl caused him all sorts of problems when he moved out to the left in the second half.

And because Trippier hasn't Walkers pace he had to stay deeper after that.

So enough though he has a better final ball than Walker, he doesn't have the same opportunities getting up the pitch like walker does.

Also now that we are playing only one in midfield we don't have a player that can cover for the full backs like Dier did last season.

Two questions for you:
- How many better back-up right backs are there in the PL?
- How many better right backs are there that we could sign who would possibly be happy as being Walker's deputy?

If Trips goes forward, someone needs to slot into right back to help him out, e.g. Toby with Dier covering centre back, or whatever. We can't expect Trips to be furthest forward and furthest back, only Walker can achieve that feat.

Trippier's crossing is great - probably better than Walker's ability to cross it. Walker beats him out on physicality, speed and powerful forward running, though. :p Kieran's a great backup, with reasonable amounts of pace, physicality and technical ability - and I absolutely don't mind seeing him in the line-up. He's not a liability in any sense of the word.

But @Bullet is right, I think - we've probably gotten used to Walker being his own covering player, in terms of his ability to get up and down the flank at will. Trippier needs a bit more help on that score.

Trippier is arguably the best crosser in the league. His stats demonstrated that before we signing him at the time

He isn't as fast as Walker and IMO isn't as good but as a genuine alternative an back up we won't get better unless we promote from within

I think KWP's slated for that role in a couple of years - iirc, WindyCOYS has spoken very highly of him whenever he's been asked about the more promising players at the academy.

I've no problem with Trippier as a back up to rotate in. But why play him in a game where we have to defend. He should play in games like West Brom where we are struggling to break teams down and are dominating the game.

Did Poch promise Trippier a Champion's League game?

Yes he did! He took him to Nando's in Chigwell because Trippier told him he was sad to not be playing enough football, and over a Wing Rouletter and a bottle of Spier Merlot promised him the game agaisnt Bayer. But only if Trippier got a tattoo of Poch with his pony-tail on his left calf.
