The General Transfer Rumours and Speculation Thread

a lot of clubs have been linked with him, West Ham especially - id be wary that these rumors are agent led.

does look a good player from what i have seen on YT though

It makes sense going for someone who is a product of Bielsa.

However I still don't think we'll pay £35m for a Kane understudy (and from what I've read Batshuayi only plays in the lone role, not as a wide forward)

Rabiot got a nice goal tonight wonder if we will be linked again.
He's been getting a few run outs in the CL lately though Veratti has been out for a bit which is at least part of the reason why he's starting. He certainly looks silky on the ball and had an exceptional game against RMadrid there a while back, but I don't see him as a Poch type player to be honest. His style is too languid and he's slow. He's not dynamic enough I guess.

Yeah, it's a tricky one, because Kane has proven that he can play with another forward in the England set-up, due to his workrate, passing, ability to run the channels, etc. And Batshuayi seems like a good enough all-around player to do play alongside a striker, but he just hasn't done it at all for Marseille this season or in his Belgium career.

It would be risky, but if we had Batshuayi and Kane, that could easily make up the best young CF pairing in Europe, so it's a tough one.

I also wonder if someone like Berahino who is used to playing in the Prem both on his own and with another striker might be a better fit, even though he might not be a better player, if that makes sense. I also still have high hopes for N'Jie, as I feel like he has that real, searing pace that we currently don't really have in our XI.

So in the papers this week, we are interested in a Serie B striker and a young midfielder from Brazil.

Given that the Italian player link comes as a result of Italian journalism, it's likely safe to say that it's a complete fabrication. Not sure about the Mirror story mind, though being linked with a promising youngster is common for us. He's a big DM, so a good backup for Dier.

Maybe they play together

No. The Bielsa/Poch system absolutely relies on youthful energy.

Of all our front 8 (i.e. every position bar the GK and CBs) options, Chadli at 26 is the second eldest. Poch cleared out all our older players.

Poch did not get rid of them because they were old but because they were either cack or a problem to team morale

Wanyama today linked again.

Personally, I think Mane would be a great purchase if we could pry him off of Southampton. I'm not too fussed about Wanyama.

Isn't Dembele 28? So a(nother) 28 yo player can cetainly be a part of Poch's system

I've come 360 on Wanyama. I saw him play a few times for Celtic a few years back and though he was a class above everyone on the pitch (not too hard) but a few CL outings were a better yard stick, and he was great in those too.
His start at Southampton was pretty poor if I recall, but he's got to the pace of the league and looks very solid now. Yes for me.
