Because CF is different. It is a specialist position and key to the way we play. I saw an analysis that said if we were to lose Kane, we would lose as many as 10 points between now and the end of the season - the most costly of the loss of any single player to any team in the EPL. That is why we need cover for him urgently. You cannot just make do and mend with such a vital position.

I agree that we need cover there. I am just saying that I cannot see the club signing two players on permanent deals to cover it. Regardless of how many players you think that we need there, do you think that it is likely that we will get another two this month?

Highly unlikely, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't.. It would be a mistake to sign just one as a lengthy injury to either forward and we'd be in trouble.

Two forward signings would cover us completely for the final push over the second half of the season and set us up for our highest possible finish, in all competitions.

I think getting even one is no more than 50/50 at this point. It would be someone like Sandro or that Belgian guy, not an overpriced Berahino or anyone else with tons of PL experience.

As long as they're not a taco like Osvaldo or Balotelli and ease into the squad, I'm sure he'd take a couple, but only he knows?

I'm not convinced. He's seemed quite relaxed about playing a false 9 and I think that he wants a hungry lean squad.

I can see us signing Dembele and Berahino this window actually; versatile, proven Premiership goalscorer who can play up front on his own at a stretch and a younger, rough diamond version of Kane himself who also has experience of English football...

Would be a perfect combo - plus, use the one-off opportunities related to the circumstances of both players. And if we sell both Townsend and Fazio, will be almost cost neutral.

Like I said, I can't see it but I guess we will find out who is right in a month's time.

Just saw reports saying Fulham are expecting offers of 12 mill...

WTF? For a 19 year old who never scored a goal before this season and who is out of contract in six months time???

If that is correct, we can rest assured that we will not have to worry about confusing two Moussa Dembele's in a Spurs shirt within the next six months...

Probably just a case of trying to ramp up any potential compensation case in the summer (should they be eligible?)

He was at PSG until he was 16, so Fulham would not be due a lot of compensation should he leave in the summer.

Yeah I was unsure about that - still though, any player leaving on a Bosman under the age of 24 will involve a compensation deal, won't it?

I believe so but the compensation is based on how much of a role the club had in developing them, so in this case, Fulham cannot expect to get a lot.

Well I guess the argument would be made that he developed from a youngster in to a '12m' rated player whilst at Fulham - not saying it'll work just that I think that's possibly the reasoning

I'm sure that is the argument that they would try to make, I am not aware of it holding much sway before. All of this may make them more willing to consider a deal in January.

We shall see what Ings goes for soon enough which should give us a bit of a benchmark.

It's not that Chadli, Lamela and Son etc can't play upfront, for me it's more that they can't play in that position as we are set up to play. We'd need to change our playing style a bit to facilitate it.
