Serious relegation fears

To be fair, based on current table/form, that bookies view isn't a bad shout.

The likely points is why we need January re-enforcements, 1 or 2 players that can turn a draw -> win. Although I suspect 70 points will be enough this season for 4th.

I think we have those players other than Kane cover or an alternative

I think if Levy doesn't buy a striker in this transfer window, it will bite us in a$$ big time. Kane looks like getting injured at any moment. You can't forget that the premier league is occasionally extremely physical. I'm still amazed Deli Alli wasn't hurt in the 50-50 in the lead up to the Kane goal against Southampton.

Alli also got clattered hard in the immediate build up to Lamela's goal yesterday, but the ref (wisely) played on.

At the time of writing the best odds you can get on us to finish in the top 4 are 8/15. The only time I've ever seen them anything like that before was when we were 10 points clear of 4th place in 2012.

This season has felt great, but I find it hard to get too carried away. Have seen too many collapses from Tottenham at the business end of the season to do that. If Liverpool beat 19th placed Sunderland tonight then we'll only be 5 points above them and Man Utd, which is nothing at this stage, especially when you consider that Liverpool have already played all the big teams away from home. Even the gap to Chelsea at 15 points looks healthy, but it's not impossible that they could gain 15 points on us over half a season. They did so as recently as last season, if you remember...

Don't forget though that Liverpool have been poor at home so the away results have been their better ones

Logic dictates the top two spots go to City & Scum

Next two between - Spurs, Manure, Leicester, Pool

We look the best at this stage, based on form, how settled, etc.
I just don't see Leicester staying in the game (I think they push, but ultimately end up 6th-8th (still brilliant for them)
United is totally dependent on if they keep/fire LVG, fire him, get Jose or someone of that level +January investment = top 4. Keep him past January, they miss out.
Pool is a wild card, personal opinion is Klopp needs another season to sort them out enough for top 4.

Interesting that the projection above has us 3rd with 68 points, I think we will do better than that, 70-72 more likely.

We have a very good shout at top four this season, that's for sure. Still think Arse will win it, unfortunately, with City second. Third is definitely up for grabs.

That said, we were better than both City and Arse when we played them, so maybe we can actually challenge for the title? Neither team has looked especially convincing or consistent. We are very un-spursily stable this season, and apart from too many draws we look the real deal at times.

I know our history far too well though, so I won't get carried away. One game at a time. Everton will be very tricky.

So....If we do a identitcal 2nd half season, we'll end up with 70 points. That should be enough to get into the top 4. But can we do better? I think we can! Lets say we half the number of draws to 4, and split the other half into two wins and two losses. That would give us two points more that the 8 draws. I think that should be realistic, and would give us 72 points. I think that will be enough for getting 3rd this season. But beating Everton will do as a start. Don't want to get too excited yet! COYS!

My take on it;

Top two between Arse and City, hopefully City have the strength to win it instead of the scum.

If Man Utd get rid of LVG and replace him with say Jose - top three will be very manageable for them.

Leicester have clearly shown enough that they can keep pace with the rest of the top teams so I expect them to be in the mix.

Liverpool I don't think will be troubling the top four.

Everton/Stoke are hard to ignore (great attacking players) but not top four contenders based on defensive frailty.

Chelsea will get sixth/seventh if they're lucky.

How and where we fit in with the above situation is going to depend on how long we stay lucky with injuries. To be honest so far we've been doing well (compared to some seasons in the last couple of decades). However Kane is the obvious one we don't have sufficient cover for and even Jan/Toby haven't been rocked yet, Wimmer might not slip into the team seamlessly which therefore disrupts our platform. Dier going into defence against Watford cost us a goal whereas I think Ja/Toby could have coped better with that situation. Our fitness is obviously good. You can see it in Lamela's running, Alli has the energy only a 19 year old could have plus the skill of a ninja. Our full backs are getting good rotation and also avoiding injury.

Enjoy the ride guys, this is what we've been hoping for, a decent team, manager and crack at the top four. Long may it continue! COYS

Another way of looking at it. Beat the three teams above us when we next play them and better their results for the rest of the season by just one point and we are champions - on goal difference.

Seriously...why are people still building up Man United. Their squad isn't better than our's & yet the way people discuss Man United, it's as if they have a given right to be Champions elect...just like Liverpool had in the past before their wheels came off. Wake up & smell the fudging coffee. Man United can't defend, have little by way of attacking creativity, struggle for a game plan and goals and really, it would not surprise me if they finished nearer to 6th than 3rd, in fact, I expect this.

prior to the mistakes of the last few games they have defended very well, they have the best keeper in the league and many players who have done it many times before

you can never write off United

Did you see how many worldies their keeper made in the first few months, I know he is part of the defence but he could not continue to do it. Made their defence look good

I say top 3 with an outside chance at top 2, or even the title. Two factors may affect this:

1. We go in a slump and lose 3 or 4 out of 5 games at some point: not very likely, given the consistency and bounceback this team has shown
2. We continue our pattern of draws: I'm more concerned about this, but hoping the experience of the first half of the season will make us more resilient when we're ahead in matches

I think he'll continue to do that though his entire career, he's an exceptional keeper

Yet he let in some awful goals of late

One direct from a Corner and two the other week where was static

He is a great keeper but far from infallible

2 simple questions.

If you had to, right now, stake everything you own on Tottenham achieving top 4 or not, which way would you go?

Same thing now but with top 3?

Put like that, i'd definitely pile the chips on top 4 and i'd be 51%-49% on sticking them on top 3 too, if i had to.

(I typed out the same for top 2 and 1st, but didn't have the balls to post it  )
