Harry Kane MBE

nice article about Harry, the following words are so so true

These false dawns mean it’s natural to be fatalistic about anything the England team does. But Kane’s success story is a little different.

It is not about hype. Kane’s tale is actually quite the opposite, it is a story of persistence, determination and belief. Of a career that drifted away from White Hart Lane and meandered through loan spells at Leyton Orient. Millwall, Norwich and Leicester before his potential was eventually realised back at Tottenham.

Hype is a triumph of style over substance. Kane’s success is a triumph of talent, belief and hard work. Which is why we should revel in his achievements.
I find these articles a little annoying. The last paragraph may be true, but his career didn't 'drift away from White Hart Lane' at all. His (and our other young player's) loan spells are calculated and planned to try to help bring them along and get them ready for a career at THFC. It is very unusual indeed for a player to go straight from youth football to premier league football in one go. If we had tried that route with Kane then we could well have destroyed his career before it had even properly started.

Kane was loaned out between the ages of 17 and 20 not because Spurs wanted to get rid of him or didn't think he would be good enough, but actually the exact opposite. The coaches at Spurs always knew that Kane had the attributes to become a very good player, but he hadn't yet developed enough physically to play for our first team. He was therefore sent on loan to lower ranking clubs so that he could train with their first team, be involved in their match day squads and even play proper competitive first team games.

It's no accident that Kane has suddenly realised his potential, his career was managed well by our club. The same is happening with a few others right now, Pritchard is likely to be the next one who will be a regular starter for our first team, no doubt we'll see the same lazy articles written about his numerous loan spells too.

Considering Kane has scored 15 in 19 matches for club and country this year I would have expected him to be higher than fifth. You might imagine the reason he loses out is because we're not in the CL, but neither are Man Utd yet Smalling is fourth in the CB table. Has Smalling really been that impressive since January 1? Certainly not when I've watched him anyway. Also no less than four City players are included in various top threes yet they've not exactly covered themselves in glory in the CL or any other competition so far this year.

Potential strike partner for Kane? I've always rated Barkley.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32123050

Everton's Ross Barkley says he is best played as a striker, despite most of his career so far being spent as an attacking midfielder.

Barkley, 21, has scored twice in 28 games in all competitions for Everton this season, with Roberto Martinez's side 13th in the Premier League table.

The England international told Premier League World: "I'm a striker.

"I can have my greatest impact there. I'm free to roam around, take players on, have shots and create chances."

Or in other words: I have a very high opinion of myself. I prefer going for individual glory instead of defending, tracking back, being part of a team, all that boring stuff.

I have absolutely no problem with a player being selfish, so long as he delivers - ala Ronaldo.

So it's been reported that Harry starts for England tomorrow. Wow, what a journey for Kane! Well done lad!

<<Hopes this isn't the start of the descent...>>

Must admit I am a little perplexed by the rules for the England under 21 tournaments and them wanting Kane to represent England in the Euro's. How can members of the senior squad just be pulled back into the under 21's to give them a better chance? Especially ones who are over 21. Seems like a bit of a fudge to me and thinking selfishly it will mean our only striker will not get a much needed break in the summer.

A big part of me would much rather see him play and try win something in the U21 squad. But thats just me, as im jaded as fudge with the senior squad.

I'm guessing that there is still the over-age player rule, plus if you were U21 before the season starts you can continue to play after your 21st.

I don't know about you but if I was Harry and helped a national team qualify for a tournament I'd want to be there this summer and finish the job.

U21s should take a full strength team, its great experience and a good oppertunity to get good tournament experience.

the likes of Sterling, Kane, Barkley etc should be going. Mix those in with the likes of Ward-Prowse, Pritchard, Redmond etc. and we have a team capable of winning.

Didn't do Germany any harm.

No, I think that they have certain dates- not about the season start - so if you were below 21 at January 2015 you can play.

yeah the words drifted away are probably out of place, but the main tone of the article is that Kane has worked hard to get to the position he is now. Yes Spurs and many other clubs send players out on loan to give them experience, there is a plan in what they are doing, but the point is how many of those players come back and make it at their own club. Very very few

I think Sterling and Kane need a summer break more than they need tournament experience. They will both be key players in France 2016, next season im sure again both Liverpool and Spurs will rely heavily upon them so lets give them a good break now.

Anyway, Kane already has tournament experience, he played at the 2013 Fifa Under 20 World Cup in Turkey, and of course Sterling too has experience at last years World Cup

England can take Ings, Berahino and lets say Bamford and stil be strong at the Euro U21s. Barkley should go because he has not played much this season
