English is Poch's 4th language. Spanish, Italian and French are his first 3.

If you combine our Spanish and French speakers, that's more than half the squad (Soldado, Lamela, Fazio, Ceballos, Lloris, Kaboul, Verts, Stambouli, Dembele, Capoue, Chadli, Ade).

I think my point is that the other 2 major languages of our squad Poch speaks better than he does English (his French is very useful considering our squad). Other than Hodgson, how many English coaches would be able to speak to 85%+ of their squad in their own language?

Plus to be fair I'd say the players showing the most improvements under Poch are actually the English contingent of Rose, Mason, Kane. Whereas if anyone is finding it difficult to adapt to his tactics, its the existing foreign element of the likes of Kaboul, Vertonghen etc. I don't think speaking English is the main or any concern under Poch.

Good point. I didn't know he was fluent in French as well. Thanks for pointing it out. :)

I think it was 3 years he lived in France in total (he did 2.5 years at PSG).

Also the 5 romance languages are much closer related than say leaping to a Germanic language like English. The old observation obviously being that Italian is just French but with an O on the end of everything.

Re his Italian, I remember reading that he's from an Italian family in Argentina, and was brought up bi-lingual with those two.

So when you said 'French is his third language' you actually meant. I've no idea what his third language is, but because he speaks Spanish and Italian he's probably decent enough at French?? :lol:;)

More because he lived there for 3 years in his 20s; and it was listed in those media-made CVs that were going round of him and FdB last spring.
