*******omt stoke v tottenham hotspur 26/04/14******

Fair play to the team and TS for getting 3 points today.=D>

I thought we'd get well and truly bummed (though from the sounds of it, we did in the second half vs TEN MEN all but final score..)

Wow that was about as good an away day as I've had all season, definitely the best atmosphere in the away end that I remember.

WR to the game itself I thought it was **** to be frank but oh well, we won. We weren't too bad in the first half TBF, nice goal too but once they went down to ten men (blatant red BTW, I'll get on to the Stoke fans in a sec...) it was a lesson by us in 'how not to play with a man advantage', seriously it was so naive. Couldn't retain the ball and lucky that Arnautovic is about as clinical as Helder Postiga.

Those Stoke fans though, blimey, they are the pits. It's not just the way they act either, you look at them and although I don't like to stereotype they just look so inbred. I felt for the ref today and it's not often I say that, he dealt well with their barrage of abuse however. And WP Danny Rose, I'm not a proper fan of him but he handled the situation of being assaulted and subsequently booed very well before being hooked.

Horrible club, horrible fans, horrible manager.. I hope they go down next season!

Our best player, got a goal ...
... got one of their men sent off ...
... got pulled off early to save him from the stoke 'fans' ...
before we played dire and limped towards a win. Stoke were dire too, till they got a man sent off. And we had several chances to kill the game off.
The kind of ugly game we need to win - away too ! I do fear for next week, wet spam have spnked us twice this season, could be number three coming up.

Did you enjoy the Stoke fan getting loads of stick about his son disowning him? Quality

hansen and savage talking crap again on motd. can't believe they could think shawcross was in any way "unlucky" to get his 2nd yellow. talking nonesense about how shawcross' eyes were "on the ball". utter nonesense. anyone who has played the game at any level knows exactly what shawcross was doing. he was trying to get a free hit on rose via an arial challenge. 100% its a yellow card. and its pundits like them that justify assaults like this that are the problem with football. had to get that off my chest ;)

Whoever thought a team, any team, after a win at Stoke would be criticized for a lack of style.

And possession? If we had it all, and lost, the same 'fans' would be biatching anyway.

Yep, we ain't gonna finish Top4. And we won't next year either. So we and 16 other teams shouldn't bother playing the season then?

The win today doesn't matter? So if we lost, nobody would say a word then?

I could never imagine how painful a win away must feel. Must be awful. Had a few pints and a curry tonight. Life is good.

A bit embarassed by this win. Yes we won but we almost got outclassed by Stoke despite them playing with 10 men. Annoyingly, we always seems to struggle against 10 men. Wish we learn how to play against 10 men. Instead, after the Stoke player got red carded, they dominated much of the play and looked like scoring on many occasions.

Rose did well to score after being set up by Adebayor. Other than that, we looked very poor for most of the match. Even Eriksen had a poor game and couldn't make use of the few chances that came his way. I was very disappointed when Eriksen chose to pass during the freekick, instead of aiming for goal late in the match. Thought Eriksen will finish as our top goal scorer but it seems unlikely now.

Glad we kept a clean sheet but only just. Thought Stoke had many chances that they could have scored from. Lloris did well to save a few. But fortunately for us, Stoke didn't make use of the chances they had. Sherwood is clearly clueless for still insisting on playing without a defensive midfielder like Sandro. Thought it was the right decision to give the second yellow card to the Stoke player. But disappointingly we didn't make use of the advantage we had.

It was nice to get another away win. We now have the equal most away wins in the league. But disappointingly, we will have nothing to show for it despite having an excellent away record for the second season in a row

Good shout. Still more wins for AVB though.

Exactly. 5 of the 10 away wins this season came under AVB. And we looked more assured in away matches under AVB. Both Sherwood and AVB have played 13 away matches in all competitions this season, with AVB coming on top.
AVB : played 13, won 10, lost 3.
Sherwood : Played 13, won 5, lost 5, drew 3.

Say what you want about AVB. But you have to give full credit to AVB for improving our away record.

You're including AVB's wins in the Group Stage of the Europa League in that?

Oh my!

We would have walked that group with our third team

Playing up 'n' at 'em 4-4-2? I sincerely doubt it.

As plenty of English teams keep finding out, European football is far more tactically complicated than they're used to - you can't just pace/power past teams.

Timmeh would have been made to look the same punchy dunce he was later, just by a smaller team.

Hilarious isn't it. May as well include our pre season wins as well while we're at it.

By the way Scara, Dnipro can go joint top today.

Won't make much difference even if you only include league matches. AVB's away record is still much better.
AVB : played 8, won 5, lost 2, drew 1.
Sherwood : Played 10, won 5, lost 3, drew 2.

By the way, Zenit St Petersburg has won all 7 matches since AVB took over, 6 in the league. His 6 wins in 6 matches in the league is a Russian record for a new manager. And Zenit are leading the Russian league now.

"Much better" - if you say so. Funny how these records are relevant but Tim's PL record vs AVB's isn't, how do you know AVB wouldn't have lost his next two away games? Also Tim has played away to six of the current top 10, AVB played away to three.
