The London Taxpayers' Stadium Shambles

Re: West Ham/Olympic Stadium farce

I disagree.

As much as I dislike Allardyce, his style of football and his whingy public persona he generally gets results. I think West Ham's best chance of staying up is to trust him, give him a couple of pounds in the transfer window and wait for him to get them results.

I hope they sack him and get on the manager merry-go-round.

You could be right, I'd just like to see Allardyce go down with them

That would be enjoyable for sure!

Edit: Even better, the thought of both Allardyce and Pulis to get relegated at the same time... An outright beautiful situation to think of.

Re: O/T West Ham Get Olympic Stadium

How on earth are they going to fill 60k, its going to be massively amusing..

By improving as a side. And the draw of the stadium. That will be their plan. But if they get relegated it will massively undermine them. By the time they get up into the Prem again, they'll be in a similar position to now: scraping along trying to get a foothold.

They put all their chips on Carol and so far he hasn't come up!

If they do get relegated and Orient get promoted, will Orient be able to put in an objection to WH moving into 'their patch' as they would then be in the same division. Or has that horse bolted now and its too late?

Someone else posted a few pages previous that it's too late now

This is where rules, laws and regulations are swept under the carpet to save face and ensure that monies spent can be excused and not ridiculed further.

DLs idea was actually the best. Thankfully for those true to Tottenham, the powers that be were attached to an athletics legacy in the Olympic stadium.

Even if Wham get into the champs league, it will never be an ideal stadium for watching football. Doomed!

Re: O/T West Ham Get Olympic Stadium

I heard one of the dildo brothers going on about how ****ed they will be financially if they get relegated. Basically all the planning they have done assumes they stay in the division. They really are gambling with the future of the club but I guess they see the pay off at the end, for them anyway.

That's exactly it.

Levy's idea of "see this stadium here you've spent millions on? Well we're gonna knock the f***er down and replace it with something better" was definantly the best idea, but would've made everyone involved in making it look more stupid than they already do.

But as you say, I never wanted us to leave Tottenham at all so was happy it never happened!

Rich people hate losing money.

Wham won't collapse like Leeds or Portsmouth. But in a perverted twist of fate it could see their p0rn pounds done up the a rse!

wham will probably stay up. There are a good 7 (or more) clubs who could be relegated. If Carol finds his fitness, you can see them scraping by.

A stadium by itself can't change the fortunes of a club so their utterly stupid if they think it can.

No wonder the Spammers can't even sell out their ground, that's some very turgid looking ultra-vertical football.

Twitter / premleagueowl: Here are all of West Ham's unsuccessful long-balls from today. Lots of straight-lines...

Ah, the turgids are back in stock? Cool.

Edit - in ref to that joke thread the other day, not being snarky:)

EXCLUSIVE: West Ham sells off its home ground to make way for 700 apartments - London - News - London Evening Standard
West Ham’s historic Upton Park home is to be turned into an East End “village” of up to 700 homes in the biggest ever London football stadium redevelopment.

The Premier League club today revealed that it has sold its Boleyn Ground stadium more than a century after its first match there kicked off.

The outline deal with property firm Galliard comes less than a year after confirmation that West Ham will move to the Olympic Stadium in time for the start of the 2016-17 season.

No financial details have been disclosed but it is believed that the club will raise less than the £71.2 million that the 35,016 all-seater stadium is valued at in its accounts.

However, fully developed the site will eventually be worth hundreds of millions of pounds with the apartments expected to prove attractive to fans, investors and other buyers desperate to get a foothold in the London property market.

...It will be the biggest redevelopment of a former stadium site although Tottenham Hotspur’s planned Northumberland Development Project around its existing White Hart Lane stadium will be on an even larger scale.
