I liked Erik Lamela before it was cool

Re: Official - Lamela

Pointless loaning him back. Might as well loan him to and English club to get used to them Prem. A team like Swansea.

If not sell him and get as much of the 30m back as possible.

Re: Official - Lamela

No Stomach for the fight:

"Erik Lamela’s Tottenham career looks all but over after his father revealed the player is desperate to quit White Hart Lane.

Lamela only joined Spurs in the summer as part of a club record £30million deal, but he has struggled to adapt to life in England.

And despite Tim Sherwood previously shrugging off speculation that the 21-year-old could leave on-loan this month, Jose Lamela says his son is desperate to leave.

‘Erik is not happy and wants to go back to Italy,’ he told the Italian media.

‘He has been linked with Lazio, but I don’t know anything about this. Could he re-join Roma? I don’t know.

‘Tottenham does not want him to leave in January.’

Lamela has made just nine Premier League appearances this term – and was previously linked with a transfer to Inter Milan."

Hard to see a way back from here. Devastating news. In flashes you can see what a ridiculously skilful player he is.

If it has to be, then recoup anything over £20m you can and move on.

Not good is it? On the other hand he is contracted to play for Spurs and Levy won't settle for a knock-down price. If the story is true then Lamela's unhappiness really can only be cured on the football pitch, and unless Tim picks him we'll never see that talent fully realised in a Spurs shirt. I don't think we should give up on the boy just yet but he needs playing time.

And it must be true because it's in The Metro.

true, but on the other hand he needs to start performing on the pitch too. he has no "right" to be in the team just because he is a high profile transfer and so far he has done absolutely nothing to show he deserves a place in the team. time to suck it up and get on with it, rather than sulking like a school boy.

Re: Official - Lamela

Yeah who knows what's true and what isn't.

Brian Lamela responsed to a couple of tweets last week saying that Erik is happy at spurs and isn't looking for a loan move or something to that effect

Much ado about nothing, IMO. Once the lad gets fit and playing, things will miraculously be better. No way in hell we are taking a 10m pound loss on a 21 year-old who is so obviously skillful after a slow 4 months. He just wants to play games, and I think Sherwood will give him a run in the team.

Re: Official - Lamela

Poor lad has been he just over 4 months and all ready he has been written off, i for one will give him at least a season maybe even more.

Re: Official - Lamela

A Roma fan was saying today that Lamela was seen predominantly as a striker at Roma. They played 4-3-1-2 with Totti behind Lamela and Osvaldo. It was the right side of the front two.

What do the rest of you that have seen a lot of Lamela say? Sounds like he could have easily partnered Soldado up top

Are you saying a man that looks like this would lie????

Maybe that's why we seem happy to let JD go and no real hint of us signing a replacement?

ive been banging on since he arrived that he should play closer to Soldado

Re: Official - Lamela

Lets not let the facts in the way of this witch hunt, but the lad has been injured for the last 2 weeks.

THANK YOU! Someone had to say it.

Of course Lamela is not particularly happy, he hardly got a sniff under AVB, is trying to settle in and learn the language, it is a tough time for him, but once he gets a few games under his belt he'll be a happy boy.

You can see how classy he is.

whats the chances this is true?

anyone know why he would want to quit? work ethic? not settling in?

Re: Official - Lamela

If he's fit against Palace, he'll get his chance, and I'm sure a lot more chances in the months to come. I'm sure we'll see a more positive Lamela eventually too, as we have seen a more positive Soldado, Paulinho, Adebayor, Dembele, Eriksen (pretty much the whole squad) after AVB left.
