Yes, but what is it supposed to mean? It could mean that he hardly ever scores, so when he does score there is a good chance we don't lose.

Or it could mean he only scores when we are already 2-0 up so it is easier for him to find space and the pressure is off, but he always fluffs his lines when the pressure is on.

The "stat" is meaningless without context, as usual.

I couldn't agree more, and it's when he's not there that we really seem to miss him. Often he'll be playing and I'll be kind of ambivalent, but when he's injured the team seems to lack a certain something

Personally I'm a fan but he isnt as great IMO as some make out

The reason why he is important is that he stays out wide and creates width which coupled with his pace puts defenders on the back foot. He should come up with more goals because he has a good finish on him.

In the current system he is ideal whilst we see what Lamella is made of (if he is ever gonna play there for us)

I'd rather play Lennon on the right and Lamela off of the striker. Eriksen coming in from the left with Dembele and Sandro in the middle.

Still underrated outside of Spurs is Azza. For me he's better than Walcott in many facets of his play, but cos he doesn't score or assist many that isn't the perception in our somewhat blinded media.

That's not to say he shouldn't be scoring and creating more, Lord knows he's got in some phenomenal positions countless times over the years before his end product has let him down, but as long as three or four others are sharing the goals between them I'm more than happy with Lennon in the team cos he brings us width, pace, energy, hardwork to help out defensively and unlike our other players his pace makes teams sit deeper against us knowing he'd kill them on the counter. Much prefer him on the right wing to any of Chadli, Lamela, Townsend or Eriksen to be honest.
 
I love Lennon I hope he finishes his career with us.

I do however find it sad that he abd Walcott are incomparable now.

Wish Azza could have developed more than just rely on pace, which he'll lose over time. Someone should tell him to run into the box down the middle to finish the loose ball ! But he does work very hard in tracking back.
 
Walcott started his career as a striker. He will always be a striker regardless of where he plays on the pitch, he grew up scoring goals and playing as a striker, Lennon didn't.

People only compared them because they are both quick and played on the same side of the pitch. They are nothing alike. Lennon can be compared to Sterling as they both play the exact same position and are both very quick. But to compare him to Walcott is just stupid.

I am confident Lennon will end his career with us by the way. 330 games for us and he is only 26. I can see him getting at least 500 for us and that is an unbelievable achievement for anyone at one club in this day and age.

But he's a clever footballer. He makes superb runs off the ball to create space for players, he can pass and move, he has one of the best touches I have seen. he will have to adapt his game when his pace goes but I think he'll still be a valuable player to us, most definitely.

This is my mark against him also. I love Lennon, i love what he brings to the team. But he has played 330 games for us and to me his game has not changed that much over time. He is still lightning fast and scores the odd goal and can torment full backs at times and has a decent enough end product. But for me by now he should also have improved his left foot to give him an option when he comes inside and also gained some more guile to his play when making runs of the ball inside the full back and on the front line as a second forward. He could offer us so much more like that. Sterling is already doing some of this for liverpool. Comes in off the wing and looks for the forward run to receive the pass. Lennon always seems to stay wide and want the slip pass.

Last year when he made that run against ArseAnal and in fact he did the same at the Emirates you could see AVB was tactically using him to expose their high line and take advantage of Mertesackers lack of pace. But I would like to see him do this in all game and be more of a goal threat behind the centre backs.

With all that said. He is great at covering the full back. Works tirelessly and i hope he stays until he retires. I just want him to add a little more to his game.

I agree with some of what you say but when a coach plays him on the left, us fans arent too happy so the coach then reverts him. How is Lennon supposed to improve if he cannot have a prolonged stay on the left?

I would also argue that when Lennon plays out wide he is being asked to stay out wide to stretch the opposition. It pulls defences apart therefore more space in the middle. I like that he is direct and out wide. Some may argue that his play is too predictable but no matter how predictable his play is - no left back has had it easy. Evra tomorrow will have a tough time.
 
I dont want to see him on the left even though when he plays there he is more of a goal threat as he can come in on his right. As I said I just want him to improve his left foot a little so that he can do more than just lay it off when he gets double covered and has to come inside from the right. And also I want him to sometimes pop up in the middle and make a run in behind so they centre backs also have to account for him and worry about him like he did at home to Arsenal last season and as Sterling does. With those strings to his bow i believe he can give more to the team and get back in the England Set up.

agreed with this, reminded me of my team in the tactics thread

despite his good performance v stoke i would possibly choose holtby instead of dembele
