Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

My memories of Keane, Berbatov and Modric are all tarnished. All of those wonderful moments, Robbie's goal against Blackburn, Berbs against display against Bolton, Modric's link play, etc, etc. Now Gareth has gone the same way, it's sad. Especially as my mate used to say to me "Talk to me about that boy, he's useless!", which he definitely was early on, but we stuck by him.

I'm sure, as others have posted, that he could and should have handled things better. I've no doubt he would have got the move without the shenanigans and could have left on good terms with the club and fans.

Still we've got a shed load of cash for him, we've improved the team and even have some money left.

Onwards and upwards!

COYS!

If Levy wasn't such a tough/shrewd businessman, we'd have happy memories and nicer send-offs. That siad, we'd be millions worse off.

Yeah, I know, I'm naive and romantic. But I still agree with DublinSpur's post above.

Re: Gareth Bale

AVB is just a fantastic manager, person, and most probably lover.

There's no point in getting stressed about this situation. We should be used to it after windows in the past.

My potential anger is firmly directed towards Madrid rather than Bale. They are a ridiculous and corrupt outfit.

Agree. It was an absolute pleasure watching Gareth develop his world class potential at Spurs. I think for his own sake he should have stayed another year and he should slip a £50 note into AVB's hand on his way out.

But money talks and Gareth walks.

Re: Gareth Bale

For a young manager in a high pressure position AVB has a fantastic attitude

I think everyone on our side acted extremely well considering the daily barrage we've been under for the past month. AVB, Levy, the players - not a word out of place by anyone (probably well versed at this stage!).

I even thought GBe11end was doing the same, giving him the benefit of the doubt with the injuries before he started missing training.

Actually I think the AVB praise in this thread is a bit off-mark. I pick up more than a little self-interest in his arms length demeanour......

Not having a go as such, he has undoubtedly handled himself well. I just get the impression it's as much a shop window for him as it is about representing our interests....

Re: Gareth Bale

Officially moved on phone lock screen changed from Bale to Paulinho onwards and upwards. I am still disappointed in Bale the last few days but in the end we are cashing in an enormous sum of money and have made necesarry replacements so fair or not I am certainly not as bitter as I was with Modric and Berba sagas

Re: Gareth Bale

The club have been very pragmatic over this whole transfer.

They haven't burnt Bale at the stake, which is smart; if they'd given him no way back, then Madrid would hold all the cards. As it is, Madrid know that we won't be forced into accepting a low-ball bid to get rid of an unhappy player. They'll pay top money or they'll know we'll just keep him.

Bale should have gone to training as AVB expected him to. He's a d1ck for not doing that. He's gone now, so f**k it. I just hope we get an attacking player in before the end of the window.

Re: Gareth Bale

In roughly 12 months, we've lost Bale, Modric and Van der Vaart.

My only concern is where the hell is the creativity going to come from now. We have a team of functional uber giants. Last year we struggled to create (I feel) and Bale filled the gap. Now we've bulked up even more, and lost the final bit of quality attacking flair we had.

Sorry to be a ****er, I'm just worried.

Both Paulinho and Capoue are significant upgrades on our central midfield options in terms of passing (apart from Huddlestone who barely got a game anyway).

Chadli looks like he will be able to create a chance or two.

Soldado is an obvious upgrade on our strikers and is also very good on the ball, will most likely create space for others and get some assists in addition to scoring goals of course. See his pass to Sig in the first game for example.

We will sign a "Bale replacement" player.

Re: Gareth Bale

Easy response though..

"Where's Van Persie gone, where's Van Persie gone"
"Where's your Fabregas gone"
"Where's your Nasri gone"
"Where's Adebayor gone" :)

Suarez, Higuain, Cabaye, Gustavo, Fellaini, Di Maria etc.

Capoue cant pass better then Sandro and Dawson, hes a DM. Please watch his video with Toulouse or you`ll soon be disapointed.

Hes talking about replacing VDV, Modric & Bale and your answer is Capoue? Please Please Please

We need players and very quickly. Players good on the ball.

Agreed, but I am still hopeful we can rectify that in the remaining days of the window. Mesut Ozil would be perfect, in reality we'll end up with Christian Eriksen.

Re: Gareth Bale

I can understand Bale wanting to go to Madrid, its a short career and it is a fantastic opportunity. But I think its too soon and I'm not sure how it will work out for him playing in he same team as probably the biggest ego in world football. Bale's days of free roaming and free-kick taking are over.
I would have been happy for him and wished him the best but his lack of professionalism has soured things for me. Wearing a pink baseball cap back to front didn't help either.

Re: Gareth Bale

Am I the only one that can see why he would refuse to train? If you want to leave the last thing you want is to get crocked rather conveniently by one of our many beasts.

I was comparing us to last season.

I guess you've seen a lot more of Capoue than me so you're probably right, I did watch quite a few of his videos from Toulouse and saw that he averaged the most passes per game in League 1 last season and he's impressed me so far for Spurs. Might just be a good patch for him.

Re: Gareth Bale

The worst part of this will be the 90 minutes of "Where's your Bale gone" on Sunday

They may well. But it means they have a short memory, at least we havent sold our best player to a direct rival, as good as handing them the PL title (see RVP to United)
