Where did this idea of an interest free loan from Lewis come from? If any truth in it I'd imaging it would be used to get the stadium started.

The extra PL revenue is also a bit misleading. All PL clubs get it so it will have a general inflationary effect on new constacts etc. We have to spend this extra to stand still so it can't be used for splashing out. If it could everyone would be doing it.

Presumably most of our deals are in instalments so there should be no problem with the Bale deal being in instalments (although they paid for Ronaldo in one upfront payment). That also means that if the Bale deal didn't go through, the amount of money needed now is not a worry. Much as I like the idea that we could keep Bale another year, I doubt we could keep him long term, so its really in our long-term interests to take a world record offer from Madrid while they are playing political willy-waving games with their Catalan rivals. What is on offer next year could be a lot less and Chelsea or United could enter the equation.

this interest free loan from Lewis is an internet based rumour that has gathered legs throughout the summer and now is considered to be fact

we will see. if we spend 50 mill extra on top of our total sales then there might be some truth in it.....if on the other hand we break even with the ins and outs then we can assume the 50 mill loan for transfers was hogwash

Depends on how much we get up front vs how much we have paid. For me that loan makes sense in covering our initial outlays and will be paid back either with future tv income or installments on players we've sold for big money (Modric, Bale if he goes).

Bale leaving will be the culmination of the most obvious transfer in the history of football. Its been absolutely clear as day that we are spending the Bale money.

Last summer in for Sigurdsson and Dempsey at about 6 million a chuck; negotiating hard to save £2.50 on Lloris' transfer.

He's been gone for ages and now the bulk of our transfer activity is done I guess Madrid have pressed the button and said rught that's enough, get him down to Stansted and check his baggage allowance.

I agree that he is gone, just that hypothetically speaking we could afford a lavish window if properly planned out, we've spent 100m net before over 3 windows and now there's a massive increase in tv money to add in to the mix.

The deals won't all be spread out evenly across 4 seasons. The biggest sum paid would most likely be this summer and it would be a rather massive amount of money I imagine. Although maybe theoretically possible, it would be completely out of character compared with anything we've done under Enic/Levy.

I've been using £30mill as the figure mainly because its the figure i've seen on graphs and charts that should we finish in a similar position to that we have in the last few years. Is it really that inconceivable that option B might be stronger than option A?

Even if you don't think there's a chance the starting 11 would be stronger, remember that we would also benefit from being less dependent on one single player and thus reduce the impact of injuries, drops in form and fatigue over the season.

Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue, Chadli, plus the potential signings of Willian, Lamela, Coentrao.....these players are an upgrade in talent and an increase in wages surely? up to 10 mill per annum increase?

Though we have got rid of Gallas, Parker, Dempsey, Hudd, Bentley....who would have all been on fairly big contracts. Plus Caulker and Livermore loaned out.....and if Bale gets sold, that's another £4-5m per annum gone off the wage bill.

I'd be surprised if our overall wages have increased by that much.

Gallas 60k, Parker 60k, Bentley 50k, Dempsey 40k, Hudd 30k - well over £200k a week even if my wage figures are wrong

Well the discussion we was having was based on the hypothetical scenario of Bale staying ... So no Lamela or Contreao in that instance for me. The players listed will be on less than the out going players bar Willian imv
