Willian

I think around 9m is the going rate for that sort of player though.. young.. U-21 appearances and room to improve. How much did West Ham pay for that winger last year? Even Downing went for 6m and he went low because of his high wages, I would take Townsend all day long over Downing.

I've taken a quick tour round various forums of other clubs and the general feeling I'm getting is one of picking jaws off the floor at our business this summer. Man U fans on Man U community were questioning whether they'd finish in the top 3 with us having joined in on city & Chelsea's party and the goons are practically ready to commit suicide just contemplating our signings...the general consensus in the footballing world has gone from, they finished 5th again, no CL, bales off they're ****ed to... **** they don't even need Bale...

I like this one (****mania)...

Another thing where I like what they're doing is that most of their signings don't scream an obvious "top 4" for me. Most of their signings seem to be looking to push higher than that and that's exactly what WE should be doing. Rather than aim for 4th, aim for 1st and if you fall back on 4th then at least it's far easier

No way we will sell: Defoe, Lennon and Siggy.

This is players that can help us change the game.

I think Lennon have won us alot of games With his speed making teams duble up on him giving other players room.

Btw. We will have alot of fun With Willan if he sign.

I don't think so. I tend to agree with you, If Lamela is signed Bale is off though.

After Willian i think barring the Bale transfer the only movement i would expect in is a CB and maybe a LB.

Where would we have got this money from if we are looking to keep Bale?

deep down i think yes. but hopefully it will be enough to convince bale to stay. willian - soldado -bale.......... yes sir

That's fair, I rate Siggy highly. He can play AM, LM or probably even CM in a 4-3-3.

He'll score goals and has the potential to be a big player for us.

Whereas Lennon can play RM in a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-4-2, and that's about it. He doesn't have the decisiveness in front of goal to play inside forward on the right and his final ball is often lacking.

I decided to look at stats (I hate stats they dont tell the full story but some on here love em)

1 in 9 for Lennon
1 in 7 for Willian

Now whilst Willian has scored more goals, id argue that he was in a poorer league. I dont know what assists are like but Lennon has also played with inferior strikers than Willian has im sure. Willian may well be trickier and creative but ultimately its effectiveness that I like to see - is he more effective than Lennon?

It's not just stats it's the players. Lennon has pace. That's about it. It's why he struggles after he's injured, because he needs time to recover. Other then pace he's decent defensively.

That added creativity for Willian will make a huge difference. Also the ability to switch between the three AM players and rotate. Lennon did it a bit, but he just looks a bit lost on the left.

I think Lennon was ok for us on the left and his left foot deliveries had improved. Willian definitely looks skillful and looks creative but sometimes it doesnt translate into effectiveness. I havent seen him, like I said before, so I cant really say how effective or ineffective he is. We will wait and see but definitely excited to see him

Lennon has made a good living from the game but like Hudd he has the talent to be better. Does he want to be better? Does he want to play in a World Cup?

Ok, it's starting to bug me. WTF is up with the quoting thing?

Is it just me? Every message you're typing you're quoting like four different messages.

No wonder you hate stats if you think comparing goals scored stats for two very different player types that play different positions and roles for different clubs in different leagues adds something to a comparison between a player you know very well and a player you've just about never seen play.

We can't sell any of them as, if Bale goes, we are down to our bare minimum of 8 homegrown players.

We can't sell any of Dawson, Naughton, Walker, Rose, Townsend, Siggy, Lennon or Defoe (Carroll is too young to count) unless we replace them with another British or UK trained player.

We dont have to name 8 homegrown if we dont have them.
If we have say only 6 then we name 6. It just means our squad will be 23 players not 25.

****nal and Everton named only 7 homegrown players and Wigan 6 in their squads last year.

up to a total of 25 players, must be Home Grown

 Changes to the squad list of 25 may be made during the period of a Transfer Window.
 U21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players/squad"
