Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

I can see Ronaldo getting the right hump if Bale signs for a higher price than him, as great a player as Ronaldo is, he is all him him him and wont like Bale one bit

You are absolutely right. This will tinkle off Ronnie no end. But what might happen is that he becomes more of a self centred prick on the pitch in a show of alpha male bravado. As of now he is primarily about glory for himself first with his team a distant second. I can only see his desire for personal glory increasing if Bale is on the pitch. Bale shouldn't expect too many passes from him.

Re: Gareth Bale

Goes without saying Bale's lifestyle will improve, his game will improve as a result of playing with better players and CL football every season (plus obviously with experience too). His profile will be raised too. But I get the feeling the dressing room at Spurs has an excellent team spirit with a good rapport with the manager. Put that in contrast to Real Madrid where they have factions of players who cause trouble at the drop of a hat (yes I'm looking at you Sergio Ramos and Casillas), player power is a major factor in that dressing room. Hope Bale is prepared for this if he isn't playing well and they want him benched.

Re: Gareth Bale

my view is that Bale is going to be a sensation in Spain - they're not as physical or fast and the refs don't penalize the player avoiding the tackle all the time.
assuming his head has turned i can fully understand if he says that in part the BPL refereeing quality is to blame

Re: Gareth Bale

Pushing hard, if he really wants to go that much put in a transfer request then or does he not want to lose his contract bonus from us, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Thats what confuses me. If Bale is that desperate to go, then simply put in a transfer request. Any lost bonus would be covered and repaid to him ten times over at Madrid so its not about money. If he realy wants to leave that much, make a stand, put in a request and have the balls to say you dont want to play for us anymore.

Re: Gareth Bale

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has told talkSPORT that he believes Gareth Bale is pushing very hard to leave Tottenham Hotspur

Wales star Bale, 24, has reportedly been the subject of a world record bid from the La Liga side this summer

The Spanish giants are keen to get their man as they look to rival Barcelona, who signed Brazilian sensation Neymar in May, in the transfer market.

And Calderon understands that Bale is doing all he can to make sure a deal is done before the window shuts on September 2.

“It seems that he is pushing very hard to leave Tottenham,” he told Keys and Gray.

“I experienced the same with Cristiano Ronaldo. The player is not looking for money in this. What he is looking for is the opportunity to get trophies and personal awards and recognition.

“It seems that Gareth Bale thinks he can get that at Real Madrid so now it’s just down to how strong he is going to be in his idea to move.”

And Calderon believes that current president Florentino Perez’s public admission that he isn’t keen to pay €100million for the Spurs midfielder is merely a tactic to lower any transfer fee.

He added: “Maybe it’s part of the game to pretend that you are not very interested in paying the amount of money they are talking about. It may be a tactic in order to get the player for less money.

“I don’t know if the chairman of Tottenham Daniel Levy is willing to accept an amount under [€100million].”

Scum organization...hope we're not doing this to our targets!

Exactly, thats why I think he wont go this season

Okay, there is a journalist that works for El Pais in Spain who is reliable with close ties to Real Madrid (Diego Torres).

Real Madrid are angry with Bale. They think he should have pressured Spurs into selling him more.

He says that Real asked Bale to do two things: to not train & to hold a press conference on the 2nd of August asking to leave

Bale obviously did neither. They also desperately wanted him to play for Wales so it was CLEAR he wanted to go. Bale didn't

They claim that his agent (Barnett) and Bale have done EVERYTHING Levy has asked of that. He says it was Levy's decision to..

NOT travel to Monaco, to NOT play against Wales as to not risk an injury in a porential 100M€ move.

Real Madrid actually CALLED Barnett to say they are disappointed with the lack of movement from Bale's end

In Real's eyes both Bale & hsia gent are playing the perject "gentleman" and not wanting to do anything to annoy Levy

However, in turn, they are upsetting Madrid by not forcing THFC's hand. So there you have it. Courtesy of Diego Torres.

Re: Gareth Bale

It is interesting i agree. If that is true then Bale deserves our ultimate respect.

It's a side of the RM backtrack I wasn't expecting tbh.

Re: Gareth Bale

I think the reason he hasn't put in a transfer request is because he doesn't need to, ie a deal is being done.

Re: Gareth Bale

What I think is funny is that Calderon thinks Bale wants to play for Real Madrid, for the extra recognition! I'm not sure Bale could be more famous right now. He's just come off the back of a season in which he was voted best player in the Premiership and cleaned up the Awards. He has been selected by several companies to be the face for their product notably FIFA and NBC and Real Madrid have further pushed his reputation through Marca etc surely anyone who likes football now knows who Bale is?

in terms of awards like world player of the year, ballon d'or or whatever.....Bale is not a regular in the CL, wont play in World Cups. Its hard to get that true international recognition like Messi and Ronaldo get by not playing in these comps.

If true, it just adds to my already burning hatred of all things Real Madrid. Demanding that a player go on strike? That he hold a press conference announcing his desire to move?

Utterly despicable. I suspect that if it were up to the vast majority of football clubs, players would be more likely to be sold to Altrincham than to Real Madrid, regardless of their calibre. Madrid know this, so they act like the proverbial snake in the grass, slithering into the players' ears whispering sweet nothings and messing with their heads. But why the players keep falling for it when they see the disaster zone that is Madrid's squad harmony in recent years, the tendency of their fans to loudly whistle anyone and everyone (Ronaldo included) if they have one bad game, the constant need for new stars while throwing the old ones out through the back door, the club politics.... is beyond me, to be honest.

Believable apart from the bit in bold which I just don't buy. I cannot remember a player ever holding a press conference asking to leave. They hand in a request, they let slip in an interview. But I have never heard of them doing it in a dedicated press conference. Madrid will have a huge dossier on Bale and one of the attributes I think it will list is his integrity. He also seems to be getting good advice from his family over the years to keep him grounded. So it's not going to be in his persona to pull this sort of thing off.

A shame in a way.... I want Bale to want to stay but if he doesn't - and I couldn't blame him, because it would be a fabulous opportunity for him personally - then I'd like this to be true.

Re: Gareth Bale

Anyone else beginning to feel indifferent to the whole affair? At the start of the window I was filled with hope, anger etc, now it's just like...whatever happens happens. If he stays cool, if not have a good career Gareth and thanks for the memories. Levy get Lamela or Pjanic in and lets get this season started already.

Yep im same as you, would love him to stay, but this whole head not right gonad*s is fudging me right off, no one player is bigger than the club...

Re: Gareth Bale

We've lost Berbatov, Modric and Carrick before but gone on so losing Bale would be a shame but by no means a disaster. What's encouraging this year is that we have done out business early. And the fact that Bale is someone you can't really replace, you just have to expect a combined effort from the team to make up the goals.
